FCP Euro says:

Our call center can certainly give you some assistance with that, let me know if I can be of any more help.

Raquel Sheldon says:

Stupid iPhone sorry for type O’s

Raquel Sheldon says:

Thank for the reply, just concern of its more. The noise -groan only occurs when it warms up. When I turn on the car the steering wheel doesn’t move, so I’m at the process of elimination. Haven’t checked the rack an pinion yet thou? I did replace the reservoir cap thou ! I’ll give you guys a call on my break “)so glad you’re there!

FCP Euro says:

It sounds like you could have a cracked or split reservoir, might want to consider replacing, as you can see, it’s not a very difficult repair but as always, just let us know if you have any questions.

Raquel Sheldon says:

P.S. its a 2004 s60 2.5T ; )

Raquel Sheldon says:

Love the extra tips, always a plus. The seam on my reservoir is oily, (possible leak) my fluid is at normal, but my pump groans, and binds on turns, in other words my U-turns have to be wide. I can send you a short clip from my iPhone if it helps.

FCP Euro says:

When the fluid starts to degrade it can ix with air and moisture and get milky or foamy, you might want to consider a flush of your steering fluid.

Evans Shelton says:

Is it possible to have condensation in the system because the colour of my steering fluid has turned into a milky brown or is it normal

FCP Euro says:

It sounds like you may have over filled the reservoir.

Evans Shelton says:

I topped up my power steering fluid because it was low I noticed a big leak on the floor which gradually reduced to a few drops over a couple of days wondering where the leak could possibly be coming from

Evans Shelton says:

I topped up my boston fluid and every lies on noticed a league but the league become smaller

FCP Euro says:

The valve in our reservoir had started sticking and it could potentially start sucking air into the system. Hope that answers your question.

m h says:

Wy did you this repair? what´s going wrong with this resovoir? I have an 2002 s60 bifuel and some problems with a stiff power steering. I also own an 2007 V70. Pump is pretty much the same No noises on the s60´s pump. Same feeling of both pumps without belt.
Best Regards from Germany!

FCP Euro says:

It’s usually a constant whining noise, does your noise happen at full wheel lock during a turn?

Derrick Johnson says:

Great video. Please keep them coming. You mention that Joe was hearing some power steering noises. Was it a subtle chirping sound, or that loud screech that makes your teeth ache? I only ask b/c I’ve been hearing a subtle chirping noise when slightly turning from time to time, but only from within the cabin. I don’t hear anything outside the car.

lonoreturns says:

Hi, great instructional vids. Could you put one together showing how to change tranny fluid, on the volvo s60. Cheers.

exexangler says:

great, thanks!

FCP Euro says:

Mainly for leaking, wood clamps would be fine, just be careful how tight you go as they’re much more powerful and you could damage your lines.

exexangler says:

are the pinch pliers use to prevent the fluid leaking or is used due to pressure? i don’t have those pliers, but was thinking of just using some wood clamps.

FCP Euro says:

There’s a suction valve inside that can become loose and may suck air into the system, you can see Jay testing this one at 0:21, it’s possible a sticking valve could be your culprit. Hope that helps.

surfercalaveralfc says:

What are the symptoms of a bad reservoir other than leaking? Mine keep leaking from the top, I have removed fluid to a low level but it still does it. Looks like the oil is pressured up? What could that be? Thanks.

Musicims says:

Should be mentioned that power steering fluid is highly flammable

FCP Euro says:

It was Genuine Volvo power steering fluid

fragglejunk says:

What kind of fluid is that? It doesn’t look like ATF…

FCP Euro says:

The power steering will get air in it either way and should always be bled after servicing

lexusfan100 says:

ok . now if i want to change the fluid can i use the drain n fill method. where i drain out the fluid using a turkey baster and then fill with new fluid..might have to do it few times. but should i drain out completely because then air could get into the hose right? thanks

FCP Euro says:

The reading should be changing a small bit from hot to cold, but it’s not a certainty. Some systems don’t change much at all, like an airplane oxygen mask “the bag may not inflate” just because it doesn’t move doesn’t mean it’s not doing it’s job. If you are going to top it off you should use whichever you have in the system already, synthetic or regular, we don’t recommend mixing them, although there is little evidence to suggest you can’t, it’s not a good habit to develop. Hope that helps

lexusfan100 says:

hmm but like shouldnt the reading be higher to full hot when the engine is hot. The reading doesnt change @ all when the engine is hot or cold. i find that weird. I mean just like engine coolant. when cold its shows @ some level but when hot the level rises a bit. i do feel the steering wheel is not that smooth when turning. Also if i need to top it up with fluid do i have to use a synthetic brand? or can i use regular power steering fluid.? i dont need to top it up a lot tho..

FCP Euro says:

It’s recommended to fill it up to full cold, like we did. I wouldn’t recommend topping it off to full hot when it’s warm, but let me know if you hear something different. Hope that helps!

lexusfan100 says:

how much did u fill it up. I have noticed that when i check the level it is up to “full cold” when i check @ cold ..but when i check after the engine is hot it still shows “full cold ” level. Shouldnt it be reading “full hot” level when checking hot?

DALKINION says:

Excellent run through,…..thank you.

Chris Hansen says:

where can I ask you Questions about S60? here on the comment section?

MrSlowestD16 says:

Ha, yeah, I just use hand-tools now, it’d just be nice to have a little impact driver such as that b/c those things are a bitch to tighten by hand, lol.

FCP Euro says:

That impact driver actually didn’t have a torque setting, if you’re worried I would just use hand tools to make sure you’re not over tightening. Hope that helps!

MrSlowestD16 says:

What torque did you set that electric impact wrench to? I’d be afraid of caving in the plastic nipple if it was set to high?
