Robert DIY says:

Must be some kind of leak, like water pump or something. Swapping hoses can
be dangerous. If the hose stuck to the surface of the car it was on, you
may want to replace the hose.

Sue dufzor ecentricbirdlady says:

Mine only does this when it is several degrees below zero…last winter it
was 3x and the res was empty. The winter before, it was much colder and it
happened several times. I will have to see if my donor car hoses from the
850s will fit the v70 turbo.

Robert DIY says:

When my daughter’s S70 GLT had that issue, she had a bad head gasket. It
was a small leak but when she drove about 10 minutes on the highway, we
would stop, open the hood, look at the reservoir and it was full to the
top.

Sue dufzor ecentricbirdlady says:

Ty. The light does not come on (if I remember right) while I am driving,
but when I get into it the next morning. Then I open the hood and the
reserve tank is way down.

Robert DIY says:

It has to be leaking from somewhere. Maybe it’s leaking while you are
driving and when you park the coolant drains back into the motor and allows
the light to come on when it cools off. The best thing to do is add some
dye to the system and search for the leak(s) after driving it a few days.

Robert DIY, Thanks for the vid! My car is a 98 V70 turbo, CA car that I
brought back to ME in 2008. Every winter, on a few of the very coldest days
(well below zero) I will get a coolant light warning and have to add
coolant every day it stays cold. I have never seen coolant under the car in
the snow! Do you think that this hose is the issue or should I look for
something else? TY,

wrap hose with foil paper to defflect the heat

Robert DIY says:

Yes that hose is in a painful location. I guess it might be easier to
remove the heat shield when doing it.

Robert DIY says:

Thanks. I had a yellow sedan. On a side note, a good yellow paint job
should cost about $2,800. LOL

Jared Lohnes says:

Your T5R is beautiful. Would love to get my hands on a yellow one someday.

vmaxx55 says:

I’ve had an hour long battle with that dumb hose before. You make it look
easy.
