Hi,
I own a Volvo specialty repair shop in San Francisco, and I really liked your video.
The home made engine support for the S60 was am favorite. We built one for use on P1800 (out of wood) and bought two aftermarket unit for the newer models but finally gave up and bought the Volvo factory unit for the S60’s etc.
Keep up the good work!
Andrew
If you can aford to buy one you better make sure you can maintain it as well is what I always say
Older Volvo models are dirt cheap to maintain but the newer ones (S series, V series and C series etc) are way more expensive to repair and maintain.
But they are indeed nice cars and if you drive them well and maintain them right they last a long time. If they break down early it’s due to driver error.
Hey, why are you dissing cold starts… You are just not doing the right ones. You know, really f-ed up cars that really shouldn’t start that you actually get started and then thrash because they are after all just junk. See it as “I fix this so it runs and get to have some fun with it after”
@Teodolitus Its kind of net how it works.
you gota have money to drive cars like that or alot of luck.
wow, it lookt like you had to take apart the whole front end, maybe shoulda remortgaged the house to replace everything upfront lol
My Bro’s wife had a Volvo, said it was expensive and seemed like it was in the shop every few weeks..
i completely agree. cars are made like crap these days. too much technology pushed too quickly.
I’m starting to think that any car after 2005 is nothing but junk. I’m seeing way to many 2008’s that are all messed up with only 70,000 km on them
gotta love older cars. or domestics. i think it cost me something like 20 bux to have my 85 Rx-7s flywheel resurfaced from a machine shop.
My oldest brother is a bank executive, and he used to lease Volvo station wagons. Maybe it was best he did not own them after i seen this video.
indeed, much of their cars of the same period share the same parts…
ford holds the majority of mazda to ransom…
It sure is nice to know how exorbitant the cost of those Volvo parts are. Basically there are no good deals on a car like this if it’s going to cost more than the entire value of the vehicle to repair. After owning and working on three SAABs, I’m done with the euro luxury cars. I miss the way my first 900 handled in winter, but don’t miss pulling the head (twice) to machine and replace head gaskets.
It might as well be lol. Its not a car for a normal person.
Dang are you sure that’s a volvo and not a Mack? Those prices are ridiculous
ok, i’ll show you mine if you show me yours but I don’t want to hear one damn word about anything being bigger than mine 😉
I’ll show you may tool box if you show me yours lol Its a mess.
lets have a peek in your tool box…
There not to bad. I think your safe with one of them. Just remember that ford and Mazda trucks of that year where almost the same truck
Great vid, some great tips. I think I will steer clear of Volvos that’s for sure. Hay I am looking at getting a 2001 ford ranger, 4.0 5speed standard , 4×4. Have you seen or heard about many problems with there engine or drive train parts and such? Its got the SOHC engine that makes around 207HP, where as the 2000 had the OHV that made around 160HP. Any info would be great. Thanks.
I took it out in about 4 hours and thats my trying to figger out how it comes out. I’m not sure how long it took me too put it back as it was almost a week lator and alot of bolts. I work by the hour. They can only charge the guy that owns the car the flat rate in the book for it. I betting it was still a good bit of moeny. Still a nice car to ride in, but I don’t think I’d buy one unless it was really cheap.
I don’t like it when I have a bolt left over lol. It could take hours to find out where it gose
Wow, how many hours do you charge for this job? It looks expensive and not for the inexperienced!
I have a friend that has a S60 T5 who bought it because “his uncles drove Vovos ” ha ha ha. Too expensive to drive everyday! Glad to hear you didn’t have any bolts left over LOL!!!
Who the fuck voted dislike what a goof
I think it was right around 230,000 km. I think shes already had a cluth before.
knock on wood i havent had to replace a trans on any dodge ive owned but i did buy a chevy with bad reverse but i knew that going in to it took it to a shop i guess im lazy.but the way they make them now a days you cant do anything without ripping the damn thing in two thousand pieces. im lucky if i feel like changing the oil on them lol
Thumbs up ! Cool stuff 🙂
