Replacing something simple that works well with something else that has more potential failure points and moving parts is bad engineering.
Nothing is dependable anymore. Everything is experimental, trying to keep up with new mandates.
Guaranteed this is related to fuel economy regulations.. they'll be pushed until gas cars are either more expensive than electrics, or pieces of junk.
I was about to do this for a customer with a 19 Forrester. I told him to get the part from the dealer. Dealer ended up warranty the car and fixed it. Cv joints started failing. Guy ended trading in for a Kia. Their choice.

You pushed me back to a 20-21 Crosstrek, due to the terrible driver "aids".
Now you have pushed me back to nothing past a 2018.
Mine failed at 85k miles, 2020 Outback out of warranty, $2200. I wasn't happy to say the least, but with it replaced and forthcoming reimbursement i'm gonna be okay

The 2019 outback and legacy are not included in the Extended Warranty
How long before they fail on average. I would have to assume that the warranty would cover the problem. Since it's an engine issue would be five years or sixty thousand miles.
After the catalytic converter, all after that was diminishing returns causing more grief than clean air.
Do you know if Subaru Canada also extended their warranty? Also, I noticed this only applies to a few model years. For the forester, it's 2019 to 2021. What about 2022 to 2024? Won't they also be an issue?
More landfill crap. Nobody ever figures the carbon footprint to replace this junk. Maybe Toyota will be the last reliable brand- not perfect, but at least you have a shot !
