I wonder if the block is cracked in the area were the head bolt was milky
at #1 cylinder?. Whoever carried out the previous head gasket replacement
may not have cleaned the bolt hole and hydraulically locked it during the
head bolt torque down.

panon1000 says:

thanks will great video.

joaquinb92 says:

if its a turbo a seal must be broken on the turbo

ICU2 says:

The mystery continues. Thanks for posting. I eagerly await to see the
results from the machine shop.

Hurlburton says:

I just started to look at this video today. I will be looking at it again.
So far it’s a good head repair video. thanks robinsonauto.

Hurlburton says:

I think you said leakage past exhaust valves between 3 and 5 cylinder I
think this is a gasket leak. The bolt from number 1 piston could be block a
threads.

Hurlburton says:

Have tou thought since the head has just recently been replaced. That could
mean the block is cracked

Kevin Rogers says:

i was thinking the samething or was some coolant down in the bolt hole, he
put oil on the threads and thos 2 mixed, could send u in the rong
direction, im sure we will know the answer soon.

TheTexasCoder says:

Great stuff!

Hurlburton says:

I meaned to say at the threads in the engine block were that bolt came from.

peoplsrepublcOcali says:

Did you check the oil cooler or did I miss that? Sorry I know this is old.

Plodmonkey says:

this guy sounds like will farrels step brother in step brothers

channelurviews says:

will having it tested be pretty expensive? It would be pretty cool to see
that test you were explaining… maybe in a future video??

David Redmon says:

Robinson..I own 2 Volvo and work on a regular basis and their not pron to
head gasket failure , the turbo is water cooled and im betting its bad..the
coolant test sowed no leak down …Dye the coolant and run for 50 mi and
pull exhaust off turbo and hit with a black light…My XC90 has 1 bad turbo
and uses 1qt of A/F a month…not enough loss to warrant a $800 turbo.. Dave

vovlospd74 says:

So how much coolant was it consuming? Mine leaks from the thermostat little
overflow hose. Stubborn little hose .

blinkskaterkc says:

Thanks for the vid

Hurlburton says:

Cracked head around were that bolt is. Leak around gasket were that bolt
is. Like I said earlier leak coming from block were that bolt came from.

Steve Rob says:

Well done , ding0925 has an interesting theory, how would the coolant get
in the head bolt from the turbo ? Look forward to part 3. Fantastic camera
detail.

Michael Sackstein says:

I know Volvos do have interference engines, so for example if the timing
belt isn’t set up correctly or you forget to lock the cams when you remove
the belt that very well can cause internal engine damage.

CHIBA280CRV says:

Looks like is one of those pain in the ass, leaks that are internal near
that number one piston.

sivaraj palanisamy says:

Hi does coolant pressure test reveals any leak in pressure

paulsjunkcars says:

Can’t wait till part 3 😀
