I appreciated the replacement procedures embarked upon. But after the
replacement the coolant keeps reducing after every outing. I may not have
done something required. Can someone please let me know what else should be
done to stop the constant reduction of the coolant? I will be grateful.

Autumn MorningStar says:

Nice Job! I was just quoted $250 for replacing a thermostat and a
temperature sending unit (coolant temperature sensor). Is that the coolant
temperature sensor just under the thermostat? Any tips for replacing them
both? Many thanks!

Sunil Dalal says:

Thanks for giving me the courage to take this on myself. Did you have to
drain the radiator fluid first? I noticed no radiator liquid rushed out of
either end in your video. Was that because your system was cold? That is
ideal. However, if you did prep work to insure no mess would happen, please
let us know what you did.

fiskbingo says:

I guess this is the same or almost the same for the V40.

gunstrucksandfootbal says:

If the V40 has the same engine, it would be the same procedure.

Marty's Garage says:

@sonalsunil2 nope since it’s on top of the engine not much fluid comes out
if any, just make sure the engine is cold like you said

str8sushi says:

thanks bro, videos like these make the world a better place 😀

Muhammad Shiplu says:

How about s60 2002? the procedure is same as s40?

genomachino says:

I love You Tube!! Most excellent instructions. Doing mine today!! Thank you!

i know you wanted to laugh after you realized what you said. Hot liquid
spewing out to your face. ha

Haizum74 says:

Hi, So is that both the thermostat and the housing all in one?

Thomas Fort says:

I just got a S40 and the previous owner seems to have stripped both the
torx bolts. Any tips on an easy (cheap) way to get those off?

hamholio says:

The Torx sizes are T-25 and T-40. On my car the T-40s (that hold the casing
for the thermometer) were tough mothers to get off, so be sure to get a
strong L-wrench to get them off. (I used a Bondhus brand L-wrench.)

WMajchrzak says:

Hi buddy. can u tell me if thermostat in volvo s40 2005 2.0D is locatated
in exactly the same position?

sbdem1986 says:

Dude, did you say you put the old rubber seal that was in the old
thermostat in the new one? It’s one of the main causes why thermostats
fail/malfunction. The rubber seal gets old and it bends, cracks.

onizuka0511 says:

hi, is this the 198F or 190F thermostat? I am trying to replace mine as
well. Also, if possible, do you know where the temperature sensor is? Mine
is giving me the P0128 scan code. I was wondering what I should do first.
Thanks

Xampuu Alvarado says:

hey a question… if the thermostat is damaged the cooling system pressure
and temperature can raise up?

Jon-Paul Brown says:

Fantastic video! Thanks for this. You just turned a $100+ repair into an
$11 one.

rt94103 says:

Thanks, you just saved me $150. I owe you a beer…
