***REMOVE THE MAIN BATTERY NEGATIVE LEAD BEFORE DOING THIS PROCESS***
Access and what you need to remove to get to the starter motor will vary but the principles of removal and installation are the same on almost every car. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Using my Amazon links does not cost you any extra.
Your videos have assisted me in the past. Thank you. Looking forward to the starter refurbishment video. Please do a Throttle body cleaning and radiator fan video.
Hi is this the same as the volvo v50 cheers
Hey, I noticed that the starter you were about to put on was different than the one removed. The old starter had 2 bolts for a bracket on the left hand side. The new one looks like it does not. How did it work out for you? thanks
Just found this video today after trying to follow the Haynes manual for removing the starter motor. I wish I'd seen your video first. They didn't even mention anything about removing the EGR or that big black pipe – they just say disconnect negative lead and undo three bolts (two on XC60, three on XC90) without mentioning what you have to do to actually get access to those three bolts! I wasn't confident enough to remove the EGR – didn't even know what it was sitting there in the way – so I wasn't able to do the job. Sometimes Haynes leaves a bit too much to the imagination, in my experience. I wish I'd seen your video earlier. Another useful one from you, SiRobb so thanks again.
What pricks dislike these videos… Tossers .. well in si !
Hi SiRobb, Thanks for the lof of useful volvo d5 videos. I have a xc70 D5, 2006, 186HP, 160k km and the cold starting takes 5-6 seconds with slightly slow crankshaft rotation. After stopping and restarting the engine the car starts quickly, between seconds. Slowly cold start (2-3 sec) occurred years before but it got worst by now. I have checked the battery, it seems to be weak but not bad, the multimeter shows 10,5-10,8 volts during the ignition. Could you give any suggestion to check? Fuel pump?
Scuse my ignorance, but what is an "EGR"?
Hi, I need to do this for my S70 98. Did you have to remove the fan to get to the starter? I have seen other videos where people removed the fan. I'm not trying to do that if it's not necessary.
you saved my boyfriends life
Hello SiRobb, have you thought about recording a video on "how to clean an EGR valve"? I'm following almost all of your tutorials because your explanations are very useful to keep the car in good shap, and I thought that one might be very useful to many people
Thanks!
WOULD IT BE THE SAME FOR S80 2002 VOLVO, IN TERMS OF THE LOCATION OF THE STARTER AND DO U HAVE ANY FILM ON BODY WORK FOR VOLVO, I NEED TO BODY WORK MY VOLVO CAR…BIG UP SIROBB
