Volvo's are not easy to work on. It's not built for easy work. I have one. However ,the old ones are built like tanks.
Using Torx screws is as stupid as why some people are still using the imperial system… Oh wait, no the latter would be worse.
It's a stupid design, and here jaguar was installing their starters between the engine and the Exhaust, and we aren't talking about it's redundancy.
Volvo and BMW both put their batteries on the trunk, if it ever gets into an accident the battery won't exploded and cause battery acid to leak out, it's a safety design.. It wasn't a bad design really, try taking out a starter from a GM Oldsmobile 98, or even a stupid alternator only to have the stupid GM security system no allow it to still start.
My wife’s 2004 Volvo has its second battery, they are safe from salt, engine heat, and they have really long FAT cables. First Volvo I ever road in had 164,000 miles,I thought it was new, and wondered how my chum had so much money for a new car, my VW Scirocco was rusting through. Volvo was twice as old
The battery in the trunk is for balance , to make the car handle better . It cost more to put it in the trunk ,but European cars are into good handleing
