Hi just like to thank you for the fantastic video ,I had all the symtoms of the abs module being at fault 2002 volvo s 60T , I took out the module and re soldiered every pin, I put it back in first of all sealing it with silicone and then reseting it to your video and worked perfect saved me 1000 euro ,thanks again Anthony in Ireland

Superb helpful post tyvm Sweden- pulled mine out after dealer quoted 1500USD (unit = 1200 and 300 to do the install and ‘flash’ a new unit). I cut mine open super carefully with Dremel saw tool as shown on other posts; re-soldered the microcracks in the power cable connector pins- Voila! Problem disappeared. After re-install you get ‘ABS Service Required’ light which goes out within driving 3miles/5km. I was able to get away with using a 4mm 6-point socket instead of buying E25 Torx. Good luck!

thank you point taken….

volvosweden says:

If its a used unit you don’t program it. Make sure the used one has same part number to make it work.
Brand new one needs to be programmed.
Good luck

YouTuby717 says:

This abs mod must of been programmed to your car already? I have a 2000 volvo s80 that has the same problem but if i buy one from the junk yard wouldn’t i have to get it re-programmed at the stealers? or no?

AggressiveTechChile says:

i have a problem my s80 2000.
Tachometer is dead nothing turns on and the only thing that turns on is the check engine light .
Second car wont start only clicking noises when i turn the key thought maybe it was the battery nope charged and maybe the starter new one installed today nothing . starter solenoid when key is turned it does not show signs of movement at all Volts are recieved but nothing happens any ideas?????

Mike Loucas says:

Much easier to simply repair the unit than to keep getting used units which are about to fail. Try Matthews Volvo Site for a write-up on how to touch up the solder joints in these units that cause the most problems. I did it on both of my V70s and to this day haven’t had problems return.

Thanks for posting video. It was amazing to watch what you did in short time. Now, I have a Volvo V 70 98 with the ABS lights on every time I am on the road. Beside that I also have a problem with ignition. The car turn itself off after 2 minutes or so after start, and sometimes even when on the stop sing by pushing brake pedal. What could be possible problem with ABS and ignition. Problem with ABS is I can feel strange brake and when car getting warmer light ABS is on, kind a not safe. Thanks

Hi Yuri, I have a same S80 but it is 2000 model year. I got the same problem, ABS, brake and STC lights up. I change ABS computer, but same problem happened again. According to my diagnosis computer(I bought from amazon.com, about 130 dollors.), P1550 code for volvo pops up. It means front ABS sensors either left or right got malfunction. I take out both side of abs sensors, the driver side abs sensor cable is worn out. I can see metal wires. I changed it and problem solved.

hi, i saw u have a key with a picture of a opened trunk on the air condition panel. I think it should surve to open the trunk ^ ^. My question is if ur trunk raises itself, or it just opens and must be lifted with hand.

volvosweden says:

No if you disconnect the battery.

Owen Hoffmann says:

do you have to take the fuses out before installing the new abs module?
