We’ve been really busy, and HOT! A friend was having some issues with her 2013 VW Tiguan, and taking it to a dealer for repairs just wouldn’t make sense. Why was it losing coolant faster than a sieve, and snapping and cracking so loudly while driving that it could be heard inside the house? Well, it turned out to have a broken PLASTIC factory water pump, and a worn-out CV axle.
In the midst, while waiting for parts, #toptech and I went camping with the Ford Maverick as tow rig! Plus, the Jeep Patriot found a new owner, a great guy who works for the @edmontonstingers1505, so stay tuned for more on that!
Thanks for watching, cheers!

I've been in that position before, taking things apart in the wrong direction. That pump comes out after removing the intake. Some can slip the old cog belt back onto the pump, not me. The real bugger is that you're supposed to replace the fuel injector seals any time the injector is removed, I've got a video doing such a thing on that engine, "installing fuel injector seals…"

That looks like way too much fun. At least the new part isn't plastic. Camping is more fun.

By now I hope that you have gotten the Tiggy (as the VW owners call them) out of the garage…Successfully.
My mini-rant, GREATLY cut down for the sake of sanity and blood pressure:
As the family's primary “caregiver” for a VW, a BMW (with the General Motors transmission which was made in France) 2 Fords, 1 Chrysler, 2 GMs and a Madza… I feel blessed.
Ha! I lie like a cheap rug!
All modern vehicles are crap to work on.
I mean come on.. Who puts a starter under the intake manifold? Some North American and Euro cars have that engineering “feature”.
Hell will have a place for engineers where they will be forced to work on the crap they created.
Get a Model T or a Model A!
Rant over.. Gee. I feel better now. 😉
Whiskey. I need whiskey. Or valium. Or both, maybe? Nah.

That was painful… engineers should always have adult supervision. Cheers

Freinds don't let freinds buy a modern VW…plastic waterpump!… Friends advise friends they cut their loses and sell or trade in for something better… Anytime a driveaxle boot is cut and allows water to get in for a length of time its just better to replace with new or reman… noise or not…best way to check the shafts is to drive it and check for noise in turns…just spinning it back and forth can lead to false replacement as they all make some noise or have play once driven…. And adding to all the fines VW has had to pay in the past years they are a far cry from a quality car company… And an endless money pit as they age… Good luck with the repair.
