Is there anyway you can find a location where the lighting is consistent. The camera iris reacts to the bright and sometimes your subject is in the dark making it difficult to make out some of the finer points of your narrative. However, I appreciate the information and I will be viewing a few more times prior to my own VW strut swap. Thanks for referencing the compressor part number!

SwPiotrek says:

Great video.
I very like your camera moves!

dieselworld says:

Because I wanted to keep the factory springs and I know how to properly use a spring compressor and not scared of it.

Rebootrevival says:

Why don’t you just buy a new strut shock coil set, bypassing any chance of the coil decompressing and reeking havoc.

i tried changing the shocks today on my 97 jetta gt.i bought new shocks and mount kits. i had a hard time b/c the new strut mounts did not come with the coil seat. every major auto retailer had to special order it. i ended up reusuing my old mounts.
this video as very helpful though.

rhkips says:

You just used an impact gun to fasten down both retaining nuts on a pair of brand new struts and bearings…

Welp, so much for the warranty, not to mention the brand new strut bearings.

how to make golf 4 petrol 1,4 higher for 3-4 cm.Did the spring from diesel helps and did they fit with no problem (all 4). Any other idea??I notice -diesel golf is higher than petrol!! Or maybe the springs is weakness with the years..

I’ll be replacing the front struts on my ’05 Mercury Grand Marquis. The front springs on my car are so thick that I might have to use 2 pairs of spring compressors for extra strength (screw clamps X4) and use 4 clamps on one spring offset at 90° from each other.

Teddy Eddy says:

an alignment… sun of a gun…. i just got one…..
is it really necessary? because i just got an alignment as of 3 days ago…

Thanks! One of the best DIY vids i’ve seen.

eurocaranyone says:

lol do not look over the spring while it is being compressed… oh kinda like the way you do in the video?

cabitty says:

If you dont have a impact gun, you”ll have to use a spark plug socket and hex key along with a box wrench. Put the spark plug socket over the bolt, put the hex key in the shaft. Use vise grip to hold hey key while you use box wrench to turn the spark plug socket.

DriftKing41091 says:
