Vw Beetle Restoration 1959 Ragtop | 1/4 panel replacement & B pillar rust repair how to

The full restoration of the forgotten 1959 Vw Beetle continues! I found this old car sitting in a garage back in 2019. It had been stashed away since 1994 waiting for a full restoration. Larry and I pulled this Volkswagen Beetle from it’s soon to be grave, a crumbled garage and Larry brought it home. Follow along on the journey of the restoration videos as this car will be 100 % restored by Larry.

Pauline's Pastimes says:

Great to watch such a meticulous craftsman but I am slightly confused. When he attached the new quarter panel piece, he only made the cut across as far as the first tack weld. When we see him welding the rest of the panel in place, it looks like he is just doing an overlap weld. There doesn't appear to be a cut line and you can see the marker line on the original panel underneath. You can see it at 39.03. Am I not seeing this correctly? He said that when he cuts right across the existing panel, he could retrieve the piece of metal by reaching inside the quarter panel. I watched this several times but maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me.
