I think it was low on oil and triggered the oil light on. Suggest watching for oil leaks or oil consumption closely in the next 30 days or so. Not a bad idea to check for oil level at least once a week, with engine cold and first thing in the morning. Thanks for watching the video and subscribe to receive our latest video posts.

I apologize, i have a 2.8 V6 30 valve. I had a VW tech reccomend changing the ABS controller because the ABS and brake light were on. I had the ABS module rebuilt so i no longer have an ABS problem, but i still have the low oil pressure warning. Also, when the rpms drop lower than 2000 the warning goes away. I only get the warning message and light when i go past 2000 Rpms, thanks for any help.

Hello, A 2002 passat uses 1.8 turbo, 2.8 v6 or 4.0 V8 engine. Our data base does not show a 3.00 engine. Could you verify what size engine it has ?

I have an 02 Passat with the 3.0 and i get the low oil pressure warning light when i accelerate over 2000 rpm. I replaced the sensor with a VW sensor and still no change. I put a manual gauge to monitor presseure and i have great pressure through exceleration, but i still get the low oil pressure light when i go past 2000 rpms. Any ideas??????

Autobahn Eugene says:

Hello, We need a lot of information about the car from you before we can answer. Here are some basic stuff you can check, verify and correct. Maintenance items such as spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter must be up to date and functional. Engine compression check will give overall engine performance data. If engine compression is good, we suggest having the turbo boost preasure checked to ensure it is within the specification. Call 541-688-2227 for more info.

After some 30 quarts of motor oil and several oil filters later the VW survived. Had to rig a external oil filter to clean the inside of the engine up. Good news is the engine will live.
