@PonyPower71 I have found most of the time, people do this not for resale,
but because they don’t know anybetter and they are doing the best they can
to get it road safe. But yes It is a pain in the ass to have to go back
over a mess like this and redo it.
@swrnc …pretty crap….the weather I mean….other wise things aren’t too
bad…Thanks mate..still struggling with the guitar a bit…but hey…It’s
been a long time..cheers.
Just wondering Pete why you patch those rust holes after you have welded in
the floor pan and not before? I ask because i have the same situation in my
old Ford sedan. Thanks for the lessons.
The job that was done on the passenger side floor is what used to piss me
off the most. Oh I hated working on something that somebody else had fucked
with and half assed it. The one you replaced has about the best fit I have
seen. Damn good work buddy!! You said it best, take a fucking breath and do
it the right way. Most of the time people just get in too big of a hurry
and fuck up and then wonder why it looks like shit.
nice i changed the floor pans in my 71 challenger installed xv motorsports
sub frame connectors i learned alot how to fix up my ol car from your vids
pete thanks again bud
DAMN PETE! You know the mistakes I’ve made. When I replaced the floors in
my 1972 Datsun 510, I ran the stitiches too long and tweaked things. Still
don’t have the passenger door closing right. Question is, When you can’t
get patch panels for floors, how do you get the floor to look more stock
using sheet stock. My floors are flat, and tin canning, getting in and out,
I’ve put slight creases in, with mixed results. Looks like SHIT, I want to
do it right!
WHAT DO YOU GUYS KNOW ABOUT A 1980 VW Diesel Rabbit?? I found one nice body
no rust runs good for $2,500.Anybody knows any nightmares about these cars?
Its not a done deal but i want it to save on gas.Its a nice car for a 80.
Has 90,000 miles and is clean. Car is a one owner Florida car and has been
parked inside since new.
@iceman22st YOu will have to cut the sheetmetal out “OVERSIZED” and take it
to a metal shop, like where they make heat and air duct pipes and have them
roll some ribs in it, then when you get it back it will be nice and strong.
Take a piece of the old floor with you so they have a pattern to go by, It
might not be exactly perfect, but it will be solid. Pete
@VENTRUE05 A continous popping sound is what your after, but when your
welding new with old–very old–the right sound of the welding is hard to
get, when welding somthing like this, you are moving your welding trigger
back and forth so much that it’s hard to get a constant weld. Pete

@iceman22st You will probably need to take the panels out and bead roll
them and reinstall.

@SlowEarl1 1/4 inch is plenty big, make sure you get good penetration on
both peices.. Pete

@zx6roy It’s only as easy or hard as YOU make it.. Set your mind, jump into
it and GET “ER” DONE!
Hey Pete, What size holes do you like to drill for making spot welds?
Thanks for the videos very helpful.
@Mantas840 No real reason. Just did the big job first, then get the small
stuff. You can do it either way, Thanks Pete
yeah the hole had silicone caulking and like black mastic hlding it in just
to get it sold…it wa s a piece of shit job for sure.
Another great vid mate.
