This was well done and helped a lot on my 2000 TDI. a tip I saw on another vid (prior to my starting to take off the wheel) was that the lower trim screws under the wheel can be reached by turning the wheel enough. (no need to remove the wheel, but I suppose this is covered in your trim vid). Unfortunately my latch doesn’t retract after the “VW Special tool” is inserted approx. 1.25″ and bottoms. Pushing in and pulling and turning the key slightly doesn’t free it up.

Would this work the same (replacing the lock cylinder) on a 2007 Jetta? If so, where would I find the part?

citylockusa says:

You hire a locksmith to fit a key to it. Replacing the lock wtth a parts store one will result in the need for programming, and make for a mismatched lock set.
