You continually give me a deeper respect for auto technicians and reinforce my decisions to take it to a pro when something goes caddiwhompuss on my vehicles

Reaper352c says:

how long has that car been sitting for it to be built up that bad

Robert Page says:

To make a good "cleaning tray", why not cut the bottom off a cardboard box with 3" sides as a good catch all cleaning tray.
It will contain all the muck and stuff and then you easily just dump it in the g-can.
One thing I've always wondered as not being a very useful tool in an automotive shop is a chemical hood.
In a laboratory, you have a safety glass enclosed area where you can work on things toxic or flammable where there is a fan to take the gasses out to the outside.
Also I'd add a sand blasting set up as well.
If I were designing one for an automotive shop, I'd also put in a stainless steel counter top with a hole in it and a steel barrel under the hole for waste. A good lighting system with sealed in bulbs (LED's) and good exhaust fan.
In fact, the entire box should be built in stainless steel.
Also put in a CO2 system for any potential fires.
It would be easy to fabricate and set up.
I'm still wondering why your company doesn't put in a truck ditch for working on large vehicle that cannot be lifted.
I'd think that it would pay for itself in no time.
I've see where you needed it on occasion.
Ok!
Great SHOW!!

Hi ray just 1 quick question how come you only clean out the egr valve we always take manifold off and clean that too as there will be just as much soot in that manifold causing bad airflow. Or did the customer not want that bit doing . Still love the content and the do di do di do .

Nicely done on another “5hr” job!

Edward Carberry says:

Short distance diesels/coolant not above 150*F will carbon up faster.
Smaller blade (the only thing they are good for!!!!!!!!! ) screw driver to clean the area.
One burns a tonne of diesel burning that!
Two thumbs up.
"Rethink this'? long 1/4" extension (hands out of the way, of is see it a torex, small ratchet as that provides less back ratcheting. aka cooperates. ??? To have reversed that process????
It has a ??suction or in tank pump?
Yes I see that or very late signals all the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ereerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I love VWs! Proud owner of a 1992 Golf MKIII VR6. Had her since 1993 and still drive her like I just bought her. Fix her myself.
Thanks for the video.

EGR valve. my mistake

killernerd says:

I do miss driving cars like that, because my first car was a VW polo of that same generation with the exact same gauge cluster and a very similar interior. Drove it all over Europe with a bunch of my friends. It had a massive 1.4l 4 cylinder petrol engine pumping out an eye-watering 55hp (when new). A 0-60 time of we'll-get-there-eventually and if you had half a day or so to spare you might eventually get it to tick 100mph. But the car would not be happy with you if you did that.

Fancy new cars are nice and all but there's just something about these no-frills cars that just makes them enjoyable to drive and I do miss that.

The Cuss says:

Only use that brake cleaner outside if possible, and wear solvent-protective gloves to protect yourself from long-term exposure !!! Avoid breathing that stuff, use fans to blow it out the doors !

Farzad classic says:

Thanks for your video. What's the purpose of the EJR valve? can you explain that plz

Jim Smith says:

Maybe, you ran over an alligator..

Luke Jaffe says:

Make sure to inspect cam lobes on these engines common failure. Also there is a gasket between cylinder head and tandem pump that commonly leaks that looks like a valve cover gasket

Your banter back and forth with the YouTube audience is absolutely hysterical.

Michael Depetris says:

I know that crunching noise. I replaced a motor mount in a 1991 Saturn once. The new one came with new studs. I replaced them and layed the old one ones in the engine compartment. Forgot to remove them. Took it for a test drive and heard all kinds of noise when they fell out to the ground while driving. No harm though. Just freaks ya out.
