Charles Miller says:

You think this would be applicable to a 2008 VW Eos?

Asif Aliyev says:

Hi, i am driving seat, i think the process is the same for both cars, i have one question, recently the windscreen was changed, before when i turned off the ignition the wipers went up a little, so called alternating park position. After the windscreen change the system does not work properly, it lives its own live now, sometimes it works sometimes not.
Any suggestions ? Thanks

Joe Hough says:

Awesome video! My wipers stoped working and I was afraid the motor went. Followed the video and found one of the linkages were seized on the wiper transmission and was able to get it working smoothly again. Saved hundreds of dollars being able to remove it myself rather than a shop replacing everything
Thanks so much

Vuk Blagojević says:

Can you go over the same repair for Tiguan?

who says:

I got ASMR from this

King Cease The Strange Traveler says:

7:10 that part isn’t NEARLY as simple as you make it seem.

Shakey Perspective says:

Hello- I recently purchased this Transmission Linkage for our 08 Jetta. I followed your video to a T, however I'm having an issue. When the wipers are on, the left wiper (drivers side) does not wipe all the way to the left. It will come about 2/3 of the way over. I've watched your video over and over and have actually took everything back apart and reassembled but have had no luck. I thought by ensuring that the wipers were in the stopped (parked) position prior to bolting the wiper arms down would do the trick, but no luck. Please help!

Malcolm says:

Very professional 😀 Does it happen to be completely identical process for Golf MK6 2011 or there are some tiny differences? My wipers are moving very slowly or even stuck at half so I think my linkage is not so healthy anymore.

elpe16 says:

Thanks for the instruction. Video is wonderful

Shakey Perspective says:

Do you guys sell the Wiper Motor for an 08 Volkswagen Jetta?

Gerry Kingsley says:

So what do you do when the wipers just click but don't turn? I followed the directions exactly twice, but the wipers won't turn, I just hear a clicking sound.

David Borger says:

Great video. I followed your instructions and completed the job. Unfortunately, the 1A part failed, so I'm doing the job again. I was worried when you put that socket wrench on the car battery so close to the terminals. Yikes! But seriously, well done video.

busyend says:

Guys, I just replaced the wiper transmission on my 07 Torrent. The passenger arm works great but the drivers side arm tries to go down when the passenger side goes up…any suggestions?

Sylvain Rousseau says:

Vinificateur
Well done ! Easy to understand, very clear . Thank you for this video.

Dalton Taylor says:

Thanks for the video. The main issue I had with my 12 gli is there’s no rest to know you got the right alignment. Trail and error sadly

Dianna Ruzzano says:

This video was extremely helpful to me. I can't thank you enough It felt so good to fix this on my own without having to pay hundreds of dollars! Thank you very much for your post!!!!

Kyle Halpert says:

Very helpful video, Thanks!
Important tip: Wipers will NOT work while the hood is open. I stuck a screwdriver in the latch to override this while struggling to align the linkage with the motor.

Isaiah Miller says:

Hi Mike, just wanted to say thanks for another great video, ever since I started driving you have saved me so much money on repairs. Great videos from easiest to the hardest I can do without a real mechanic.lol

Mark Chaplin says:

Mine was so badly seized up on one side that I gave up trying to refurbish it. Had to buy a new part and this video was helpful.

monz87 says:

Hello, would it be the same for a Golf MK5? Great video by the way.

mike menniti says:

Hey mike do you guys sell the plate that holds the stoppers ?

Dominic Clarke says:

Quoted £300 to do this by the garage, bought the mechanism for £20, followed your video and done in under an hour! Thanks so much!

Velimir Lazarevic says:

Hi Mike, will this procedure work on a MK6? Thanks!

Sander Aiaots says:

When you removed plastic it seems easy. My one is very stuck. Any advice how to remove this without breaking it?

simri cruz says:

do you think this are the same steps to fix the wiper transmission on a 2006 vw touareg?

kumbackquatsta says:

is this the same for a passat of the same model years?

aymar stadler says:

Thanks to 1A Auto Parts and Mike () for this instructive video.

Where one has to pay attention: the shown alignment of the transmission (I believe it is called a 'diagonal' alignment in this video, frame 7:15+, silly crib 'passer l'arme à gauche'). This will prevent the wipers from 'cudgeling' the cowl panel. The excenter gearing (conversion of rotation into to and fro motion) cannot push them any further. I did mount the whole transmission in the shown alignment – without any temporary change for ease of handling. A still picture/sketch, say at the bottom of the screen, might have been helpful. (The transmission was for a Golf IV, not a Jetta, some minor differences, no hex key was required, but the alignment part should be universal.)

I still remember the wiper motor of a tractor where everything was open (one wiper arm only). Selfsame excenter transmission though.

Wiper parking was random at first. Running the wiper motor in interval, without attached wipers, acted as reset. The initial behavior was somewhat akin to what happens if one cuts the motor with the wipers running. The wiper motor 'remembers' the old position on reignition and traverses an extra arc. Once I would have understood.

There is no need to mark anything if one mounts the wiper arms (as well as the transmission gear) in parking position (l'arme à gauche). Things will be out of kilter anyhow if the wipers did seize up.

The wipers will work without the motor running (even as – most of the time – the window regulators) but the key must be turned.

The copper nut which has to be press-screwed into the toothed spindle of the wiper motor can work itself loose again. It is sometimes hard to judge how much tightening will be required.

Insight: car makers use copper parts (another example would be the oil sump washer) very much like the military. A rifled gun barrel imparts spin on the copper casings of the ammunition by biting in. Where the parallel breaks down: there is no such thing as an 'ammo puller' or 'penetrating ammo oil' if something is stuck – or so I hope.

(A modified 'plumber's garrote' – or whatever it is called – was unequal to the task. One more purchase.)

The cowl panel is very much a click on part. One should think Lego and pry off the front or back edge slightly before pushing. Contrary to appearances, it is not glued to the windscreen. The fit is not quite as good as before (16 year old car). Warped plastic and a hairline crack between windscreen and cowl. Not sure about sealing.

Richard Doley says:

is this application for the 2008 VW jetta wolfburg too. Because I did not see the pump in the front end of car and the resivior is by the winshield.

William Wallace says:

Bought your part and did the repair , thanks for the instructions.
