how to replace front shocks on vw super beetle, if you have any questions
let me know
new video upload, how to replace front struts/shocks on vw super beetle, if
you need new front struts/shocks on your super beetle and you don’t know
how to replace them your self and want to, this video should get you
through the job.
The car looks in great shape. Good job on the replacement. A question
though, why didn’t you just place the spring compressor on the springs with
it slightly compressed, then remove the whole strut as a unit? when you
have the whole thing out, you can then place it into a vice and then
compress the springs all the way, then caryy onto replacing the shocks.
Just a thought. I had replaced mine in this manor and it save me from
having to work in sucha restricted area under the fender. as for the sway
bar, why did you need to undo it? you shouldn’t have to touch it unless you
are replacing the bushings or replacing it as a whole unit. I have a 74
super as well and have made a couple of vids too. cheers.
Nice I have a 71 super beetle that I need to put lowering struts now I have
a pretty good idea how it ganna go
Thanks for the clip
Awesome!! Thx
yes smaller than other shock or strut, and there were other collars with
the new shocks we got, you might check in the box, the collar in video got
dirty quickly so it looks old and or used, just be sure what ever you do
just make sure the shock/strut shaft does not scrap or rub on any thing
when in use.
Hi, I just bought the same struts as you… I saw in your vid that the
cartridge is thiner than the original… When you put the collar, what did
you use to complement the thickness? Thank you so much for the vid, and
I’ll be waiting for your answer….
