This video shows you how to install a lower control arm on your 2011-2018 Volkswagen Jetta. Control arms are a crucial part of the suspension system of your vehicle. They not only carry the load of the vehicle to the wheel, but they typically also maintain its alignment. Control arms are typically large and strong, so you may be surprised it needs replacing. They contain rubber bushings for smoother rides at the cost of eventual wear, or integrated ball joints that require replacing the entire arm when they wear.
This repair was done on a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta S Sedan 4-Door FWD and the process should be similar on the following vehicles:

Will this be same as a 2018 Passat
whats the deal.with TTY bolts? i know youre supposed to.teplace them after every use but I feel as though 90% of mechanics don't replace them. could one just use Loctite perhaps? How much is hype; how much is reality?
Some of the lugs on some years will be 17mm at least true for my wife 2012 vw jetta and its about to get a 3rd lower control arm the streets where we live are bad and eat the bushings for breakfast

The driver's seide one is the difficult one. I think the transmission pan blocks removing one of the bolts.
Is wheel alignment need it afterwards?

LoL. Simple as that eh? Not even close…. Your balljoint is brand new, in reality that nut is gonna fight yo ALL THE WAY. Then of course there's the fact you did the RF. Let's see you do that lickity-split on the LF with an automatic transmission. You have to unbolt the transmission mount and raise the engine/transmission assembly to remove the front control arm bolt. A good video for seeing what 1/3 of the job will be for most people's situations.
what about the bolt that was loosened? should that one be replaced? arent they TTY bolts?

Lt side is the tricky one
The control arm bolts and 3 ball joint nuts are to be tightened in curb weight position, not in full droop. You will destroy your control arm bushing in less than 6 months the way you've done it.
