Success! Considering some LED replacements. Anyone know how bright these
bulbs are supposed to be (ideally, in lumens, but in watts
(incandescent-equivalent at 12 volts, if that’s what you have)? Looks like
I may need load resistors. Anyone tried LED bulbs? Success/Failure stories?

JesusOnSkates says:

Wow, I tried removing the light and gave up after about 20 minutes. The
repair guide I have didn’t suggest where to pry from like you did. Trying
again soon.

Lou Sullivan says:

Yes it is tough to pry it out the first time. The rubber gasket gets stuck
to the body. I took a plastic piece and ran it around the outside to help.

Balloonski Twyst says:

Woot! Worst part was prying the light out, thought I might damage the body.
Right light, pry from the left and vise versa. Smoooooth sailin

Thanks easy money beats taking it to the dealer

sallyandmarty says:

Thanks ~ That was so EASY! The new tail light cost me $4.37… including
sales tax AND a also spare bulb! The dealer wanted to charge me $100.

i just bought a 2001 beetle and the brake lights dont work. can anyone
help? i’ve checked all fuses and replaced blown fuse, i’ve replaced brake
sensor switch, i’ve checked rear light bulbs which are fine. anyone have
any suggestions

Yelizar Benyavskiy says:

thanks man

Lou Sullivan says:

The only thing I can think of is perhaps the sensor switch you installed
was bad or a connection was not made. I am having an intermittent problem
with one of our brake lights (right side) on our 2001 bug. When it works it
is dim. Good Luck

Thanks! Did the trick real easy.
