Lots of times these VW key’s won’t turn, or if they do they get stuck in the on position. This is how you remove an ignition lock assembly and then disassemble. From here I believe you can put it back in. Not terribly hard.

I made a follow-up video to this with some other information. I basically re-did the job and concentrated on the question points I got the most of.

How on earth did you get that last connector off without removing the steering wheel?
Why couldn’t you just drill and use an easy pit to remove the screws?
How to reprogram key after replacing the ignition switch?
Anyone?
Just did mine, now after i installed it my car says no key detected and won't start…….. It was purely mechanical so why do i get this error????? I need help
Dude. I had this problem on my 2012 Passat and i simply watched this video, ordered the part and got after it. Now it took me roughly an hour but, it works great now. My wife and I almost got stuck about 2 hours from home and luckily was able to mess with it til we got it started. We were stuck for 45 minutes until it finally started. So on the way home she drove while I watched this video. I don't comment on alot of stuff, well, unless its music related. Lol. But, I honestly feel that had I not seen this. 1st off, I wouldn't have had the confidence to tackle it, and 2nd would've probably just paid somebody way more than what it cost me. Plus the time of not having my car. So Yeahhhhhh. Very valuable information. Thanks so much. Peace!!
Where can i order the punch?
Thank you for making this video..
I drop the steering wheel . As far as it goes still no room .how you drop it more
This is the better video on this repair i must say
Hi I realize this is an older video, but I followed your whole tutorial and now I have my new lock cylinder housing with my cylinder in place and I have hooked up all the wires I believe correctly, but now I get a message on my dashboard that says SAFE, I'm not sure if my car is not turning on because my battery is dead or it's because I did missed a step, but I don't believe so. Would love to get advice @deamonmachine
