The issue is most likely with the rods in the door that control the handle
movement to the lock. You will want to open up the panel again and see what
exactly the issue is.

Just want to say thank you ,thank you, thank you! I have just been
replacing the window regulator in my vw bora. When putting the door panel
on I couldn’t figure how to securely place the cable for the door release
and voila @ 4:15 I see how it’s done. Thnaks again for this service guys.
The white holders on my window fall of the glass so i can’t shut the
window. Do i have to open the door like you do in your video and replace
the white holder?
You more than likely would have to in order to repair them.
This is a great service and you really helped me out. 90% of my frustration
is gone.
