Replaced mirror today on 2002 Passat very easy to do per video instruction.
Chose to rest panel on step stool instead of taking off most other pin
connectors seen in video in case I go lost reattaching, and then
reassembled when completed. Worked out well. Just make sure to re-hook
panel correctly on top of door near window. Almost was done saw mine loose
had to briefly backtrack and refastened. Job took less than 30 minutes even
with panel fastening done twice.
Thanks again for taking the time to post this video. Choice was either
blindly fork over estimated $1000 to replace/install thru local VW dealer,
or find cheap replacement part (mine was used 2002 same color from Ebay
$29 shipping included) + use your video tutorial to self install. Tough
decision.
Wife’s late dad was a VW shop foreman & master mechanic originally from
Germany (worked at same dealer above with $1000 estimate) sure he is
smiling today.
@karlKrump We currently do not have a video on this, but more than likely
you would need to remove the door panel, and any trim pieces that may cover
the bolts that hold the mirror onto the door.
