How to Install a VW 5 Cyl 2.5 Engine Cam Position Sensor (G40)

How to Install a VW 5 Cyl 2.5 Engine Cam Position Sensor (G40)

The Camshaft Position Sensors communicates with the vehicle as to where in the rotation the camshafts are. Please note that sometime Cam faults may be a result of timing issues on the vehicle. Before installing a new cam sensor on your vehicle you should alway check to be sure the engine is properly timed.

VW 2.5L 5 Cylinder engines use a timing chain so it is important to know this is in proper working order first.

Quick note: Mine took a T30 to remove, not T35. My "check engine" light came on, I went to Autozone and borrowed their OBD2 scanner, came back as bad cam position sensor. Purchased it for $78 plus tax, and thanks to your video, I replaced it in about 10 minutes. Thanks for the help!
