This is just a quick guide on how to find #1 TDC and align the distributor correctly. A very easy thing to get wrong for first timers.

No worries mate, just happy the vids are helping people out, thats what
they’re made for.
This guy is awesome has saved me twice now when no others have addressed my
issues thoroughly. Thanks again 🙂
Hi Warren, do you mean the notches in the pulley or the distributor drive?
great help so far. What if the notchs arent perpendicular to the joint in
the case
Very informative video. Thanks!
Could I ask though, can you e
Thanks for the awesome videos mate. As not only a VW newbie, but as a total
engine newbie, they are really helpful.
Hi there, yep just put a drip tray under them and prize the bails clip down
with a screw driver, the RHS one can be a bit fiddly to juggle over the
rocker arms and the body but they come off pretty easy. Pays to have a new
gasket on hand for each side too.
Thanks man your brilliant.
I really appreciate the time you put in making these videos. thank you
Gratefully
Can you access the valve covers with the engine in the car ?
Why do they put the brass gear on the crank-shaft? Now I’m going to need to
pull the whole thing apart again. Couldn’t they make the distributor drive
out of the softer metal so it would be easier to replace?
Yes it would have been easier to make the dist drive gear out of the softer
material as its easily replaced. Its not very common that they get damaged
though, what happened to yours?
