How to: Hardwire install dash cam (VW Golf) or: access fuse box, A pillar, & courtesy light

Installing my old dash cam in the Mk6 Golf with the same hardware from my Ford set-up, all cabling hidden, and power ignition-switched via a fuse-tap.

To see a more detailed look at the wiring set-up here, watch my original video installing the same hardware in my Ford: https://youtu.be/cZCQt_tXIi0

A better version of the A119 is now probably the A119 V3, which does support a hardwire parking mode ~

The A119S is really a driving-only camera (no proper parking mode) so it’s installed here to run only with ignition. To see a driving/parking install plus a rear camera, watch: https://youtu.be/bAE4gbzCXJE

which features the Viofo A129 Duo, which is a front + rear set-up. Review: https://youtu.be/l07rtvNkHBs
Or, newer version A129 Plus Duo: https://youtu.be/0VgWKLdtAcA

For these parking mode cameras from Viofo you would ideally use their 3-wire hardwire kit which makes life easy ~
Amazon US: https://amzn.to/2yKsp54 | UK: https://amzn.to/2YUeEeH
or buy from BlackBoxMyCar and select the kit as an option.

The cabling shown uses a fuse tap and a hardwired USB power supply. You will need:
* USB dash cam, see above
* USB cable, length to suit
* USB power adapter, featured is a dual socket unit with cable terminating in an SAE plug. Amazon links ~
US: http://amzn.to/2C4xDIs | UK: http://amzn.to/2krC1Ke
* Fuse tap, make sure you get the right size. Amazon links ~
US: http://amzn.to/2j0Stko | UK: http://amzn.to/2o3nGZC
* Additional fuse to suit, 5 A is about right
* Other wiring and crimps or solder as required
* Voltmeter
* Tools to get behind trim. Various torx screwdriver bits.

Using the above Amazon links helps support my channel and is appreciated!

Brilliant video and nice and neatly installed the way I would do mine out of sight and the camera is nicely out of the way it’s similar to the Audi set up
