How To Fix Rear Seat Latch To Access Trunk – 2000 VW Jetta

Simple fix for those of you who need to get access to their trunk from the back seat with a broken lever.

You just have to pull it up and out really hard haha (I suggest start
pulling from one side with your fingertips under the base of the handle).
It’s impossible to do this without having the prongs at the tip of the rod
break (you’ll see what I mean if you do this yourself). They are like a
trap where an animal may stick its hand in but can not pull it out. I
didn’t think it was worth it to buy a replacement part, so I used the
elastic band instead. I kept the trunk lever for aesthetics.

Hi, just follow the steps in the video. The instructions do not change.
However, I’m not sure which hole would be easier to stick the wire hangar
in to release the lever. My guess would be the one on the left if you are
facing the seat
