we have found the new seals are kind of fat. we hit the base (the side against the fire wall) with a wire wheel to thin it down a bit so it fits in the grove better
Once again you have addressed the very project I am about to start. Thank you.
Those seals are a bitch I just bend the lower part with plyers , insert seal then bend back with a hammer. No biggie you will never see the bottom. Easy peasy less than half the time than your way. Just saying.
I've fought these more then once! It's amazing how beat that channel can get!
So engine compartment seal refers to the firewall seal only or it includes the one at the tin at pulley wheel. My asking I was a site, it says compartment seal different from the firewall seal.
Have you install the type to transmission in a buggy yet ?
With rubber seals I usually use washing up liquid but I’ll try talc powder next time , thanks for the vid as this seal I important for the engine
Mine was so bent up and crusty I had to put it in along the edge and use a plastic wedgie to get mine in.
That job is always a pain but you are able to get it done and we appreciate your sharing of how to do it. You take care and have a great weekend Buddy. BigW:-)
I replaced that seal a number of years ago now!!
I want to know how to prevent it from going rotten so fast??
I swear mine didn't last the summer…
That was long ago now….
Keep up the great work brother!!
Like real life videos. Things never go perfect. I bought all new seals for my Bug in 1991. I’ll have to see if they are still good. Still in the package. I also bought 4 new fenders, new floor pans. And some various other parts. Glad I did I noticed prices have Gone up little bit since then. Thanks for keeping me inspired to start back on my Bug.
Okay looks like a pain in the butt! Good job Gary!! I need to buy a new one. Also for around the sides an apron. Mine is gone completely
Hi Gary. Great video but the gasket was kicking your butt. Might try Vaseline. No joke. It works great and will keep the rubber like new. I coat my trunk, hood and all door seals with it. just rub it in. Keeps seals sealing and they don't stick. Keep up the great work. Love your channel. I look forward to seeing the notification when a new video uploads. Be safe and have fun! Jim
