thank god I found your awesome video.. will try it out and let you know..
the bad smells killing me.

calcio777 says:

It would be helpful to know what year and model this video is for – As
JackPontiac52 mentions – on the 2009 this video is wrong! 🙁

WATTYATHINK says:

… thanks for the video, just changed my cabin filter (2003 Jetta TDI)
everything worked well, no smells in my car but the filter had about
100,000 km (60,000 mi) on it … a couple of hints, the filter fits into a
removable plastic guard, when returning it and the filter replacement to
its housing ensure you have the three tabs facing back into the car and
that they are seated well into their slots. This will take a little
finesse, press down around the edges to ensure there is a good fit.

Christy Roberson says:

Thanks, bought our daughter a 2005 Jetta and the first owner must have had
dogs that traveled with her. Smells like wet dog when you turn the AC on.
My husband needed to know where the filter was.

jackpontiac52 says:

So the GROSS SMELL is from condensation when operating the Air Conditioner.
So it is safe to assume air gets cooled before it enters the cabin filter?
I have an ’09, and mine is under the glove compartment.

Jijo Tomy says:

Should have shown how you take it out!!!

Torey Hunt says:

Didn’t even realize I forgot that part. this is for an MK4 jetta
1999.5-2005. sorry that it wasn’t helpful for your model

star

Collin Hickey says:

Hex head perhaps?

Christopher McCain says:

Thank youuuu very helpful

spikedpunk says:

Very nice, and too the point tutorial, keeps the attention, and brings out
a good point, many do not realize their car has a cabin air filter. These
devices, a very good idea, will also bite back when they get damp when
laden with dirt. Mold forms, making the awful smell. Thanks for showing the
spray I gave you, it is good for taking care of what is left in the duct
work. There is also some stuff out there which REALLY cleans out the ducts!
Again, nice demo Torey!

calcio777 says:

Well, now that is helpful, thanks! I have a 2004, so i am going to try this
myself soon! 🙂

2charliekatz says:

wish you had actually pulled the filter even if you didn’t want to replace
yours. Maybe it can rip on the way out ??? but thanks for making it sound
so easy…

Torey Hunt says:

its a pretty solid filter i highly doubt it will rip on the way out. I’ve
had mine out more then once without issue. good luck!

hors156 says:

Thanks for the video! I just changed the filter and it took less than ten
minutes!!

smokies2789 says:

Thanks! Great job..You might want to consider using additional lighting so
we can see better..

Sam Stevenson says:

Just for future reference, the star shaped screw is called a torx screw.

Jay Johnson says:

Thank you so much for the info. It’s a big help to all us DIY’s!!

Sarakahn says:

Appreciate the video, really do. Would be nice to have better lighting on
your video next time. Could use being able to see the details of what
you’re doing better.
