DIY Engine Replacement Gone Wrong

DIY Engine Replacement Gone Wrong

This VW had a DIY engine and transmission replacement. Now the engine hardly runs and the car will not move.

Sometimes a DIY is not a good choice.

The rest of it is shocking, can't believe chopping bits off and just leaving them like that, and that sealant catastrophe is an eye opener!! …But is it realy that bad to weld up a small crack in the oil sump pan? I'm "asking for a friend" who has just such a small crack in a VW MK4 Golf 1.8T oil sump pan that's not yet attended to… Not losing much oil, just a drip or two a day I'd say, if that, topping up maybe 500ml of oil every 6 months, that's including everywhere else the oil sweats or gets out from… thoughts on sump weld vs replacement?

@user6860 says:

It might be the ecu or the ecm it may need to be tuned and calbrated to run that engin

I've seen ton of stuff like this in my area. I should have documented them, and you should post more of these…

that is just sad…

@GTA360andSSDslotguy says:

The great thing isn't necessarily the sealant on the exhaust but the way they have used a bolt with big washers as a sort of clamp.

@grettagrids says:

EPIC FAIL! Humble.. maybe you can tell me what's up with the deal of folks removing chokes and milling down the air horn? does that RAELLY give more HP or is it just a myth?

@maveric0738 says:

Wtf! Why? If you do not have the means to fix it correctly…then save $ to repair the correct way. Ah these back yard mechanics.

@WallaceRoseVincent says:

I can not imagine any human being doing that to another human being. unbelievable!

@jeremiahfix5529 says:

Wow,…They could have used oem or done the aftermarket replacement/junkyard/too lazy aproach without half assing it, if one dosent have the money, if one dosent have the tools, if one dosen't have the cognitive ability… they should probably leave it to a profesional who's reputation is under scrutiny.

@theblackmambaplague says:

Whose car is that??? Horrible

@wilson713 says:

Do not put aftermarket axles on your car. Do not let a shop sell you aftermarket axles. I repeat: do not put aftermarket axles on your car.

@michaelshone2465 says:

LOL. What in the hell…….

@mr.heineken5770 says:

That silicone gasket maker is actually holding the bolt…..

@MrSlowestD16 says:

lol, 0 fucks given with this car.

@PhattyMo says:

Is that a nut,bolt,and some washers to 'clamp' the exhaust together?? Did they break a stud off,and try to fix the leak with the 'clamp' and sealant? Niice.
