Hi Chris, beautiful beetle, what color is that? I love that color.

Keith D says:

Hey Chris, who paints your VW's? They all have the greatest shines on the paint!

Edward Ward says:

For a line-up tool, I use a nail set. Buy one that is for the smallest nail. I have several of them in my tool box. Nail set tools available at any hardware store. Thanks for the video!

Bill Rush says:

My bug had standoffs from a previous owner & I got rid of 'em & mounted the decklid where it belongs following this video…but I can't for the life of me get the latch to line up now! Any tips? It seems like the latch should be about a half inch lower than it is. My gaps are all good on the deck lid but it does sit ever so slightly lower than the body where the grills are.

Yaquie Lopez says:

hey chris have a question i have a 1964 beetle and i am needing a decklid i see on jbugs that they say you can use the 1965 1966 decklid with some modifications i would like to know if you have tried that or if you know what is needed to make it work thanks !

@Chris Vallone
As useful as this video is, I still find myself needing tips on what the adjustment of the inner hinges of the deck lid will affect. I have an issue where the left side of my deck is slightly lifted, and therefore is not securely pressed against the body.

Thomas Payne says:

Chris, Good luck? It would be great if you would actually explain how to get the deckled in the proper position. How do you move the support brackets? Push them in? Pull them out? Show the components outside of the car and explain what they do and how to adjust them to get the desired alignment.
If I want luck I'll get a rabbit's foot! LOL..

Thomas Payne says:

Pointy Implement – is a "Drift Pin". That's what I call it.

Nicolás H. Udaeta Alaiza says:

Chris, there's a water retainer that goes un the hood of some bugs, what is it called and how is it installed?

Matt Young says:

how do you replace the captive nut that secures the bracket to the body? can't find any information about this? thanks

Matt Young says:

Hey Chris, there is a bolt that holds the hinge to the car… What bolt is this? mine has been stripped out once and another hole has been drilled in. Then a self tapping screw with a bolt head has been put in. This is the bolt that goes into the hinge bracket (inside the car) The treads are starting to go and its making my lid sag a bit, just enough for it to start catching.

Rick Nelson says:

Chris – what size are the bolts that hold the U shape bracket to the body and the bolts that hold the deck lid?

John Remmen says:

Thank you very much. I was looking for HOW TO MOUNT…. and it works.
