Leaking head Gaskets can cause a never ending amount of overheating, no matter what ya do, changing Thermostats, etc. Fastest way is to let the overflow tank uncapped and filled up letting the engine circulate fluid. If you have Old Faithfull Blowing out all the coolant usually out of the Overflow tank if not a blown hose. #1 For sure a Head Gasket Problem, Warped Cyl. Head, or a cracked head. and fixing it is a major Repair, don't cheat yourself with Cheaper parts that may cause your work to become a failure, as a 40 plus year auto Tech. The Rubber Glove shows the pressure and the constant Compression from internal leak getting into the cooling system, Far more than an engines natural pressurization from heated coolant. The Over flow tank should flow without blowing it all out when the thermostat opens. Running The Vehicle, The Coolant is Being Burned away with the Fuel System, yet is catastrophic to the Catalytic Converter creating more back pressure burning up valves and oil, etc. Then its a Matter of Rather Fixing it or not. That all depends on the owner of the vehicle or whom is willing to have it fixed PROPERLY! With an Experienced Auto Technician… So if your slowly loosing cooling, slightly overheating even in a normal temp range, is burning the coolant, where your losing the coolant. and plugs Catalytic Converters, esp. with engine misfires.
It’s easier to just look at the make and model. If it says jeep on it and it has a 3.6, it’s gonna need a head gasket.
