itRIX49 says:

Fuctup how much you didn't have to do but informative and work space/area was clean. Visually pleasing, not you, the overall view. See previous replies from the previous comment for SOLUTION to headaches!!! Peace

Diving Duo says:

I bought an 07 Jetta 2.5 running for 1000 but it needed a muffler which was like 500

Marc Kaplan says:

Have you had trouble seating the bottom hole? I am able to get the top lined up no problem but then the bottom wont seat properly.

Vince Cook says:

Does it whine because of the alternator my car is whining bad and I’m hoping that’s all it is

Smilodon Fatalis says:

Getting the damned alternator back on is a job unto itself.

To all you genuises in the comments–you clearly haven't done a removal ON THIS PARTICULAR CAR AND ENGINE. I don't care if you did it on a rabbit, a golf or a bug. All you're doing is misleading people.

John gonzalez says:

My mechanic changed alternator and replaced and now I have all my light on
Battery brake, and my car shutdown and he cant found the fail you can help me

Rodrigo Araguz says:

I just wanted to say thanks! I actually tried to change the alternator through the bottom by removing the AC but that would have been a huge long mess because there is pulley housing in the way. So I went with this video instead and I unscrewed the engine mount, jacked it and pushed the engine back and it worked! It is the easiest route in my opinion. The hardest part was probably unscrewing the 3 connection on the back of the alternator because the clearance is so small!

Gabe Romero says:

I second Jose V here. just take out the AC compressor and it will save you a ton of time.

2WN_2RBO says:

Or… remove the radiator carrier screws.. lot easier to hinge that forward than everything that was removed for the motor mount. AND there are ways around a triple square

Zach Edwards says:

Don’t listen to none of these mfs lol. Take off the headlight assembly to get it out. Ain’t no way to get it out the bottom.

JohnBoys AutoBody says:

for anyone reading this.. if you need to remove your alternator simply jack your car up… put it on a jackstand… remove the lower belly shield which is just a piece of plastic held with 8 screws…. its only purpose is to protect from dirt and debris… next you remove your belt. simple. 15mm on the tension pully and remove the belt which you can do from the top or bottom of the car… next you remove the ac compressor which is only held on with 3 hex nuts.. they arent hidden and they are very easy to access… be sure to not yank or twist your compressor because the lines attached to them are pressurized and you dont want to cause damage to them.. you can get a bucket or cynder block or even a bunjee cord to hold your compressor in place out of the way… now you can access your alternator and remove the 2 bolts holding it in place… you drop the alternator down and put your new one in… put it back together and your done… this guy here is a joke.. do not do anything he says to do.

JohnBoys AutoBody says:

bro get off youtube…. youre confusing people who dont know crap about this type of stuff… you clearly dont work on cars for a living. for anyone reading this DO NOT unmount your MOTOR to remove an ALTERNATOR this guy is a dbag

sweet william says:

I had hoped the alternator on a 2.5 rabbit was in a friendly location….I still have nightmares thinking about replacement on my 99 tdi beetle….sometimes I just want to take engineers and hang them from the nearest tree

The Commenter says:

Can you try this on a Mk6?

Wilmer Quesada says:

you take it out from the bottom after removing the a/c compressor

carlosgonlez says:

this is what i did will help a lot after watching this video
1- lift the passenger side on a jack stand
2- take the bolts from the mount to chassis
3-put the jack under the COMPRESSOR WITH A PIECE OF WOOD between and lift a little (be very careful do not put too much pressure on compressor)
that way the clearance between the engine and chassis will be enough to work
the rest is in this video

Wade b says:

Its bad enough to have a vw to begin with but this dude is just punishing himself. Has No idea what he's doing, just making it up as he goes.

Javier Hernandez says:

hey can you guys show how to replace a vvt solenoid for this same engine? I have a camshaft position A over advanced issue, i believe i have found it, but would love to see if you could help at all. thanks and God bless

Nath Campos says:

my alternator goes down from 14.20 to 13.70 and has variation do you think i need to replace the entire alternator? it also makes a weird sound

Neon diamonds Aquaberry says:

Just did this job now, be prepared for hell, i dis mounted The ac compressor and swung it out of the way with the hoses still attached, then had to remove 3 pulleys to be able to reach the alternator , then the electrical connections are an absolute bitch to unclip, be prepared for hell and have the proper triple square bits and torx bits to complete this job, oh and ratcheting wrenches would be best also, anyway just a heads up of the horror that awaits you if you’re thinking of doing this DIY

die2end says:

This video is helpful but it has alot of unnecessary steps.

magna war says:

nastychewy says:

I just took of the front bumper and jacked the right side up. I had access to everything but this video helped fill in the blanks.
