@Valerie
torx screwdrivers, typically you can get a small enough Allen key to fit
them tho

Anthony Sendro says:

need to find the coil pack, car is sputtering when driving, any help?

Escondido German Auto says:

On early 2.0 no you don’t have too. On the late model cars its alot easier
to move the intake out of the way to prevent collateral damage. Its up to
you either way

Johnny Andrade says:

DO YOU HAVVVVVE TO REMOVE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD?!?!?!?!?

Martin Hagemann says:

Now in regards to that… Do you need to use the tool to plug the wires
back on once the new spark plugs are installed? Or is it a push and click
kind of deal?

ralph terpstra says:

under no way do you need to do all this ,just did my 1999 jetta spark plug
change in 30 min. 1- air hose dirt around plugs 2-ring pick off wires in 3
min.3-two outside plugs take 30sec.each to remove the one under manifold do
with a universal socket also need long extension, hardest part is getting
two inside ones back in ,but play with them and they will catch, come on
,remove manifold?

valerie contreras says:

what kind of tool do i need to remove a speed control censer it look like a
star allin wrench but not very sure

Tom Yelizarov says:

I just used long slanted pliers, that extra tool to pull the spark plugs is
not needed. Just be very careful when pulling them out. Pull them out on
the thick part of the wire, and remember to change the spark plugs on a
cold engine. If you do not then there’s a chance that you will warp your
threads on the spark plug socket. Good luck!!!

Elliot Gwedo says:

pain in the ass

Franky Tornadoballs says:

Do you really need the special tool? or can i really damage the wire? other
then that im just looking for a way to do it my self but not having to
purchase that tool..

9493ffrancois says:

whats the name off the tool u used to pull the spark plus

mactechaddict says:

YEAH JUST TO SAY, YOU DEFINATELY DONT NEED THE VW TOOL TO PULL OUT THE
CABLES. JUST USE A PAIR OF GRIPS THAT ARE GOOD AND PULL STRAIGHT OUT, NO
PROBLEMS ON MY 2002 BEETLE 2.0 GLS. RUNS WAY SMOOTHER BWT.

mikeyBno1 says:

Really useful. Thanks

Bitter Clinger says:

Tell me about it… I sold 2 67 Camaro’s and a 66 Impala

flojo grande says:

I agree with you absolutely about the damage to the wires, injectors and
hardware. I replaced the spark plugs and it was an SOB. I actually wanted
to replace the wires at the same time but I saw it getting complicated just
by the little clearance I had and from the minute damage I did to one of
the existing wires. That gasket can’t cost that much and it will prevent
some serious headaches in the long run. Thanks for the post. The signs of a
true professional.

Escondido German Auto says:

Thank you for watching our video! Yes, when you are reinstalling the intake
you must replace the upper intake gasket. The part number for the gasket on
a 1999 Jetta GL (just to use one example) is 037 129 717D. Good luck,
thanks again for watching!

schon wolfe says:

No, just a brain.

Cg Gillean says:

Thanks for the very informative video, you make it look pretty easy and
doable!!!

Escondido German Auto says:

@dankymcdunker If I’m not mistaken, it should be in front of the passenger
rear tire area. If your under the car it will be inboard a little bit. Hope
that helps you bud.

flojo grande says:

Well made video, informative, detail instruction, well filmed…well
narriated. Shoot, the other thing is this is the way it should be done. Not
struggling without taking the intake off. I will buy that tool cause I was
just tinkering with the wires with a long angled needle nose that’s for
that type of work however it did crack a small part of the plastic on the
existing spark plug wires. I worked on planes in the Navy…use the right
tool for the right job. Your video smoked GrindtimeAuto.

shengyingm says:

another question, could you please mark the PCV and throttle body on the
video? I cannot find them. Thanks!

katrsae says:

I just replaced my spark plugs, without removing the intake manifold. It
wasn’t difficult at all, I purchased a after market plug wire removal tool
from ebay for $40 bucks. No. 2 cylinder is a little tight, I don’t think I
want to do it without this tool.

Carolin Lane says:

How do you gain access to 1998 VW Cabrio spark plugs? Can you access
without taking off intake manifold? Plugs seem accessible without moving
intake but will probably need universal joint on wratchet in order to snake
around various interferring metal parts. Thought I would ask before
tackling the issues. L Killion 11235ldk@comcast.net

Mike Herman says:

Thanks! I won’t be attempting this myself. Too difficult for a novice.

kedfle dnew says:

@ohiopowersports where can you find that special spark plug wire tool?

schon wolfe says:

my girlfreind did it and was very easy thanks. for all those that have no
skill that is auto shops are for not youtube

Escondido German Auto says:

@ohiopowersports , I only charge book time for all my repairs. So I decide
not o short cut it like I said to prevent any further damage that most
shops would lay on the laps of the customer. Thats not how I do business or
teach my guys to do either. Integrity and reputaion mean more than a dollar
to me. I just wish more techs would do the same.

kedfle dnew says:

@EscondidoGermanAuto where can u find that tool

theskateboardt619 says:

hey guys my 2.0 has a cylinder 3 misfire as well as some vacuum line
problems but im gunna get new plugs/wires& a new coil pack… but can u
show a video on all the vacume lines and where there located???

Ledgic17 says:

What is the special tool called please inform me. I think this is what is
causing my car to turn off while I’m driving

Jose David Edid Garcia says:

Hi, do you know how to get that special tool to remove the sparkplugs? I
have been looking around and I cannot find it. Thanks in Advance!

monty2009ify says:

do u have to take manifold of to reach the mile spark plugs is there no
speciel tool u can use to get to them

Sergio Santos says:

Since you work on vws at your shop. Could you tell me on a 2004 vw jetta
2.0 to get to the fuel filter do I need to remove the right rear wheel
housing? Cuz I looked for it everywhere under the car and couldnt find it.
I even looked under the hood, it isnt anywhere.

Escondido German Auto says:

Tool part number is SP 98180 Thanks!
