Scotty I disagree with you about the 2zz engines. They only really break when they are over revved and raced. Also Yamaha designed the head, and toyota designed the rest. Similar to the JZ (2jz,1jz) series engines
Would Scotty be open to doing apprenticeships? A, Scotty University so to speak?
The opposite was in effect for the 2002 Solara, 4 cylinder was junk, the V6 was a gem.
My 02 Celica GT with the 1ZZ-FE engine has about 268,000 miles on the engine and it still runs great. It burns some oil but it's still a great car!
I'm hoping to get at least over 500,00 miles out of my little Celica and I only paid 4 grand for it.
I love my Celica! It's a great little dependable fun to drive car!
If you still take advice from this joke your stupid
Not saying he's wrong but the gts (6spd) isn't as bad as he makes it out to be, as long as the oil pump and lift bolts are taken care of its a very reliable and powerful 4 cylinder I have over 300,000 kms and still get 550km to a tank
Scotty, somebody has that car. You do not know him/her. Stop calling people stupid just because! It just shows that you are stupid!
The 1.8 140hp engine is terrible major issues with oil consumption.
The 1.8 190hp vvt li engine with the Yamaha head is awesome.
My 2001 Toyota Celica GT had oil leaks galore at only 90,000 miles
My mechanic has been holding my 2000 Nissan Altima for 3 months. Now he tells me he can't fix it.
Toyotas built to last and might last a hundred yrs in the right conditions .
WTF are you talking about?! The 1zz had oiling issues in the beginning and there are more 200-300k mile 2zz engines than I can count. I myself have 2 of them and they've proven to be near bulletproof. I could go on, but why bother. If your 2zz is blowing up, then you're a bad driver and caretaker.
Everyone I've known with a 1ZZ has blown their motor at least once. I owned this exact car, bought it at 155k, engine and trans both grenaded by 200k even with proper maintenance/not driving it like a maniac. Previous owners probably weren't too kind to the car to be fair. Heard they fixed some issues in the later years tho
Yamaha makes best MCs according to many people. They know engines/MC chassis.
Don't know about the Celica with Yamaha but the Taurus SHO the Yamaha designed engines breathed life into a 4 door sedan coupled to a 5 speed manual…
That's the OHC version of solid lifters , my Focus is same , it is known as DAMB Direct Acting Mechanical Bucket. Most reliable design and better for higher revving.
A couple of videos back you were saying how good the XRS Corolla was. The XRS also has the 2ZZ-GE engine. Only the cylinder head was designed by Yamaha.
Paid a $1000 to dad. Likely token gesture. Buy why charge the son at all? Should have been a gift. However, I do not understand that there could be a good reason or two.
I oen a Celica t sport 2zzge UK model for more than 2 years, banging the rev limiter every day when I drive it, racing it almost every weekend with my friends, if you change the oil regularly the engine can't be killed. The only problem with them is the weak gearbox, that can broke easily, I changed my gearbox after my differential broke when I had a stage 2 clutch for around 6 months and racing it regularly.
The 1zzfe engines from 1999 – 2003 had issues with oil consumption due to piston issues, certainly in the UK at least.
The only thing better than Scotty talking about a Toyota celica is him talking about HIS 94 TOYOTA CELICA!!
