I live in WI too, and I know how it is to fix old rusty old car out in the snow and freezing your ass off. I give you credit for filming and working in the snow.

I have a 04 Camry an my cover piece in the middle came off of the pipe,So can I still drive it or not??

burgerman says:

My brother did a muffler delete on his car and he recently handed his car down to me. It annoys the shit out of me when I drive on the freeway and tends to attract the attention of cops. Will this help me make the car sound how it was when it was stock?

JuliaDevan says:

Stainless steel bolts are a MUST for easy future replacements.   I have replaced all bolts on the entire exhaust.  Was great when I had to change that flex pipe for a second time.  🙂

Props for hard core repair in the snow!

Joseph DiSalvo says:

I have a 96 Avalon with similar (probably identical) exhaust. The flange on the pipe feeding the muffler is completely crumbled. (It's basically a clean circular opening with no flange now) Any suggestions on how I can join it to the muffler without welding?

Slave Of Self says:

nice, good help. ye, it sounds decent without, but it always pissing me off when turds drive up and down my place with em purposely unmuffled, so i wont do it to any1 else.

What kind of car is this? Great video. The lighting and the camera angles and focus were really good. Better than most repair videos, in fact.

what is the size of these muffler bolts? M14 or M12?

Isn't working in the driveway in winter a motivational experience? Adverse weather is a great teacher of approaching work with efficiency – you did a great job!

I tried drilling out the studs/ bolts on the Toyota muffler flange. No Luck ! Hardened steel. What mat'l was your drill bit made from? Looks like a new muffler for me. ( tried smaller dia. drill bits too)

Joe T says:

Speedkar99, have you replaced the middle pipe yet? Wish to see video, pls. It will involve removing the rear O2 sensor.

Joe T says:

Thank You for doing this video! Good safety- I see jackstands in use & gloves. I did the same procedure by the cat. flange. Now 8 months later, same exhaust leak/noise. I will have to replace middle pipe. (front pipe w/ Cat replaced already).

hey buddy.. i got a 2001 Toyota camry XLE v6 that came from illinois (im in Cali) and everything at the bottom was all rusted out. i keep getting a p420 code. for whatever reason, the only catalytic converter that will fit the car is $2000 bucks so i have been trying to avoid it. later i found that my flex pipe was cracked so i replaced it. then, there was a hole in the pipe itself so i replaced that. im thinking, would replacing the muffler alltogether and maybe taking the cat off and cleaning it with soap and water, drying it and re-installing it, would the code still come back? i read that cats trigger the light to come on with anything less than 97% efficiency. would cleaning the gunk out of it and getting a new muffler do the job or do you think im outta luck? anyway. i have been able to pass smog because i can turn the light off and drive for 500 miles or so before it comes back on, so thats why im thinking maybe its not so bad and a little cleaning would do… what do u think?
