There were cars before Asphalt roads were normal. I'm sorry the "infrastructure isn't there" argument is nonsense. That's not how we do things, like ever. They won't upgrade the electrical infrastructure until AFTER its desperately needed just like everything Historically. The power grid need upgrades in both output and acceptance of excess solar being put into the system from people's homes.

No one's going to create the supply without the demand, you can't wait for an infrastructure to pop up without people needing it first.
The US gov gives 20 billion a year to fossil fuel companies. And people think it's the 'free market'? No. If the US Gov gave charging, lithium mining and grid upgrades the same treatment then you could have the supply first to encourage the demand.
I'm sorry im going to stick with gasoline cars

We should have more plug in hybrids and range extended electrics. There's not enough material in the world to make batteries for everyone to go as far as they want in an electric car, but if most people's driving is short haul, you could have small batteries for everyday driving plus a gasoline generator for that epic long haul road trip.
