Made in Mexico for the same reason Donald and Ivanka Trump have their crappy clothing line made in CHINA…cheap labor!
I can understand why, Toyotas truck are already expensive. If they have to cut corners than they would rather shift production to somewhere cheaper, than to raise their already high price.
Ok so if they actually make them well in Mexico then what pissed you off then? Lol
Unless the vehicle fails because of sloppy assembly you really can’t blame an assembly worker for faulty parts
If you offer someone in the US $15 an hour for assembly line work, what kind of worker do you attract? Not so great work.
And what if you offer the same $15 an hour in Mexico? You'll have dedicated professionals lining up for work. That's the difference.
I have a 16 taco still going strong. Only issue was the bed light gasket busting and leaking water. Other than that, it’s been great.
Nothing wrong making Toyota in Mexico

My 2018 Tacoma is Texas built but everything that has failed on it was stamped mexico. Door panel, tailgate hinges, bushings, fan clutch, and every single exhaust heat shield except the headers have rotted off.
It’s not that Mexico can’t put together a car, its the suppliers they’re sourcing parts from are not keeping up with QC. Even the metal quality is off. Noticeably weak rust resistance.
It had this knock since new, turned out to be two dudes hiding in the engine bay

I had a Chevy Blazer that had an engine made in Mexico. It expired at 60k and was replaced with a engine from the US. I worked in quality assurance for Parker Hannifin Hydraulic division. They tried saving money by sending some parts to Mexico to be made. They never made them to print as long as we got them from there. Job came back to Detroit and no more bad parts. Nothing good comes from Mexico in my experience.
They are made in Mexico, but the manufacturing standards are the same.

Well you get what you pay for. In Mexico 260. Pesos equals about $10.50 an hour labor vs in California its $15. an hour labor , but in some states its still about $8. an hour labor , so.. technically they could be made in a state with $8. an hour and it would cost less than sending it to Mexico, so then why do they still send it to Mexico to be built
So many new vehicles are trash, with recalls months after they are made.
To many electronic components, buy something older… tried and true
