2002 lexus es300/330 is the same engine as the 2002 camry/solara?

Great explanation sure save us old guys heap of valuable beer money end of
day. I used to do my own engine repairs years ago but these new motors have
to learn the ropes all over again. Thanks for the lesson very helpfull.

Autotechviewpoint says:

All I can think of is that it is easier to turn the engine over to line up
the timing marks with the spark plugs out, no compression to fight against.

In reviewing again for my preps to do this job next week, I noticed that
you were able to remove the Engine Mounting Bracket (RH) without removing
one or two of the studs, or without jacking up the engine. I hope that will
be the case on my 04 Camry 1MZ-FE engine. Thanks

I can tell you the engine code is the same. 1MZ-FE

Autotechviewpoint says:

I would guess to remove that stuff and extra .5 on the job with the right
tools. I think you could loosen the 10 mm bolts, because I think you can
access all of them, and take out the two studs I mention in the video and
it should come out, without actually taking off the cam gears. Thats what I
would try if I wasn’t replacing the cam seals.

Kielyn B says:

Excellent. Just what I needed to get me ready to replace timing belt, water
pump, crank and cam seals on my 04 Camry this summer. Question: did you
remove the spark plugs for this job. Some manual say remove and some don’t
mention it. Just wondering what are the advantages (if any) to removing the
spark plugs to facilitate accomplishment of timing belt replacement? Thanks
a million.

JimzAuto says:

19:10 water pump removal; would the pump move away from the engine with the
black cover in place? If not, how much extra time to R&R the cam pulleys &
black cover?
