I have a 6 cyl Boxer in my 2010 Outback and it has been S O L I D! 203000 and still running smooth. I'd buy another one in a hot second. Sad that they discontinued it for a measly 1-2 more mpg with the turbo4.

The electric fans to pop on and cool the radiator fluid….but the water pumps aren't on when the engine is off, so it is not really cooling the engine except barely by fluid temp osmosis

Mazda is the best. I have Mazda 3 2018 and the car is very good. I do maintenance in my garage. Top car.
Many of the 2010 2.5 had oil consumption problems.
I got to announce this,,,,last week I witnessed 2 separate Toyotas broke down days apart. I am still in shock.
Those Suzuki little off road toys are a gem right now. If you can get one it will be way over 10K.
The #1 complaints of the crosstrek is the weak engine, can’t get out its own way to quote Scotty. The new one you’re getting has 30 more HP and shouldn’t have that problem. My wife’s 19 crosstrek had all the issues Scotty mentioned, religiously maintained at the dealership but engine blew at 170k, headlights issues, battery, starter, oil valve etc. Definitely not a good choice for high miles. We expected better, the car burned oil and coolant no one told us because we thought maintaining it at the dealership will suffice, big mistake they wanted $7k for head gasket job, $12K for a new engine. I had an independent specialist replace the engine from a. Wrecked car with only 2k miles (verified). Talking to Subaru customer service was a waste of time, typical excuses, they do and say things just to cover their behind. If you want to traded in for a new one we will offer you $500 no thanks, went back to my Toyotas and Lexuses!
