Install New TPMS Sensor DIY Without Needing Rebalance

Break the seal on your tire to install new TPMS sensors yourself without needing to balance your tires again after. Do this if you are replacing an existing TPMS sensor, or if you are adding a sensor where you had a regular rubber valve before.

Good luck doing that with a radial tire. My mistake, you moved it so easily I thought it was a bias tire.

Adding weight and no balancing. You should know better.

Excellent and detailed explanation. Thanks!

These sensors are a frustrating invention. I've spent money having these replaced at discount tire only to have them go bad within two days. Took it back to them and after they supposedly replaced the bad one again, the trouble light came on yet again within two days. The worst invention ever made.

I have a tire changer, so breaking the bead is easy. Honestly, removing the tire from its rim is not so easy. A cheap tire balance is about $50 at harbor freight. A tire changer is worth investing. A tire changer and balance would be worth if friends and relatives are willing to take the trouble.

By the way, TPMS are pain. They break easily.

I will do this trick when next I need to change out a sensor. Tire shops where I live want 20 bucks plus tax to change out a sensor and if you have some years on the ride you will want to change out all four. So save yourself some money and do this. Only other thing I may do is go to Harbor Freight and buy the cheap tire changer just to break the bead, less than 50 bucks. I have three trucks, one car, two lawn tractors and a 50 hp tractor so I'd put it to good use. I try to do my own work when I can; brakes, axles, A/C components (I do have a mechanic flush/vacuum the system). I just finished changing out the clock spring in a Dodge Avenger to turn off the air bag light. I figure I saved 500 bucks on that job buying my own parts and doing the labor.

Nicely done.

I paid someone to put my new sensors in & did not know I needed the #s off each sensor for programming. I now have to get in each wheel. You saved me having to spend more money. This video made my day. Thx

William Bratton says:

Thanks so much… I even feel like I could do this now,lol

Superb demonstration thank you for sharing

Huge help thank you, the trick to pop the tire off the rim is great. Also like that you are using same sensor I have on my car.

Would like to add for people like me who already have sensor in tire to pop the tire off the rim on the opposite side of the the valve stem so not to damage the sensor.
