Thanks a lot Todd, your video helped me greatly! Was having little troubles finding one of the two big screws, but found it after I saw the video a second time. All in all one hour job and saved hundreds of dollars.

Thank you so much for this detailed step-by-step walkthrough of how to remove and replace the starter in an older Corolla. I have an 07 and everything went smoothly. I watched this video a couple of times before heading out to do it and it took only about 30 minutes to change it out. Having all the tools ready beforehand was helpful as you stated in your video what sizes are required. My car that wouldn't start on me is now functional again (I also replaced the starter relay to make sure everything was essentially new).

Regular guy says:

Good video.
In my experience with several Toyotas now, I have just replaced the contacts on the original starter and they worked perfect again. If you open up the starter, you will see what I mean about those contacts. Really simple and super cheap to do.

On our 2004 Corolla, the starter’s rear bolt was the more difficult to get to, but persistence paid off. About a 25 min. Project.

Francisco Ochoa says:

Thank you 🙂

I had to rap on the starter body with a ball peen hammer to get it loose, but it came right off. The hardest part for me was just getting the little rubber boot out of the way to refasten that last nut. I've changed several starters, but never on a Corolla.
Thanks!!!

Just did this, thanks to you. The far bolt was a stinker but I got it. Unfortunately, when I rinsed my battery in driveway with hot water, I got a stain on driveway. If you ever do that, take it to a parking lot.

Brian Richardson says:

Thanks for this video. I was able to replace my daughter's starter today by following this video. It was very well done.
