How to replace fuel injector Toyota Corolla √

2003 Toyota Corolla, 4 cylinder engine 1ZZ-FE
It also applies to 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 Corolla’s. Chevrolet Prizm 1998 1999 2000 2001 2002

Tested all 4 injectors and resistance were in specifications from previous video I made.

Car had a rough idle and in freeway speed there was no power. Check engine light on prior to testing. 3 DTC codes
Freeze Frame stored first code as follows.

P0171 Lean Condition: When the air-fuel ratio feedback is stable after engine warming up, the fuel trim is considerably in error on the rich side (2 trip detection logic)

Possible trouble areas:
-PCV hose
-Air induction system
-Injector blockage
-Mass air flow meter
-Engine control temperature sensor
-Fuel pressure
-Gas leakage on exhaust system
-Open or short in heated oxygen sensor circuit
-Heated oxygen sensor
-ECM

P0303 #3 Cylinder Misfire
P0304 #4 Cylinder Misfire

It was determined that #4 fuel injector was bad because of BLOCKAGE in the pin holes.

How I determined that, switched #1 injector to #3 injector and #2 injector to #4 injector, then drove the vehicle. Check engine light immediately came on. P0300 Multiple Misfire, P0301 #1 Cylinder Misfire, P0302 #2 Cylinder Misfire. The injectors on #1 and #2 now were misfiring.

In the video, I replaced the last injector. My friend would have saved on labor cost if he had replaced all the injectors all at one time. I recommend to replace all the injectors if one injector is clogged. It is more likely the other injectors will give off codes in the future.

Note: If it was a P0172 code with misfire codes, it is a rich condition, meaning there is unburned fuel, so then the coil packs could be the problem.

Im surprised the new injector didnt leak because that oring didnt seem to fit the injector at all. When I replaced my injector orings, the new ones i bought at Oreillys fit exactly like how it did in the video — loose. They were too small, so all 4 injectors leaked when I turned the ignition on. Maybe that silicone paste did the trick? I used regular motor oil to lube the orings. had to go to the dealership for orings that fit.

Wish I would have seen this video before removing mine -.-
Other videos didn't mention that I needed to remove the FP fuse to depressurize the system.

Thanks a lot! This worked great for a 99 Chevy Prizm, has a Toyota engine. Did all 4 fuel injectors.

good info dude thanks

Michael Sakowski says:

Would pulling the EFI fuse also work to depressurize the gas tank when changing the fuel filter?

Michael Sakowski says:

What an incredibly great video! To the point, but thorough. I used 1/4 sockets with an extender ok on my vibe. But I dropped the 10 mm bolt! A telescoping magnet grabber came in handy! Otherwise took a little over 1/2 hour.
