How To Rebuild VVTi Cam Gear-Lexus Toyota | VVT-i Seal Replacement | DIY VVTi Gear Rebuild

Rebuilding the VVT-i cam gear on an IS300 2JZ-GE motor. This part isn’t designed to be “serviceable” due to the laser alignment of the gear and sprocket but a few companies sell the O-ring needed to do the rebuild. Its an easy 10 minute job for most. This is a must when doing timing belt and water pump service.
You can remove the cam gear without taking off valve cover if you have a strong impact wrench that and bust it in one hit. Make sure to mark you timing on belt and gears.

I got the kit for like $13 plus $10 shipping from Drift Motion. It includes the viton rubber O-ring and the OEM seal washer for the outside bolt.
Also a few sellers on eBay for $16 – https://ebay.to/3iPiEYE
If you are lazy and just want to buy a new one, $155 – https://ebay.to/33Br7bC
