what size tires can you run with these?

Will Botto says:

Great video. Makes it very straight forward considering my kit didn’t come
with instructions. I did have a problem from the start though. My 89 runner
has no bump stops. Any suggestions on getting that control arm up. I did
try without. Got my b/j out but getting back in with the spacers a
different story.

TheAlexManVideos says:

But if you insist on doing this, you should insert a socket or other hard
object between the upper control arm and the droop stop while the truck is
on the ground. Now go through with the regular installation. You will need
to pry the lower control arm down to install the knuckle between the
control arms. A long pry bar is necessary, a friend is helpful. I will also
warn you that your suspension components are going to wear at a much
greater rate with this setup.

TheAlexManVideos says:

So you’re saying you have a bracket lift and cranked torsion bars, and now
you want to install BJ spacers as well? And on top of this you have a 3
inch body lift? How much lift are you looking to acheive? I will also say
that none of these lift options contribute to a smooth ride. The bracket
and body lift have no real affect on ride but the t-bar adjustment and BJ
spacers certainly hurt ride quality. I would not suggest running BJ spacers
with the other items you already have listed.

Taylor Oakley says:

Thanks for replying and my goal is to get it level and when I was going to
do this I was going to loosen the torsion bars

Taylor Oakley says:

I have a 1993 Toyota with a 4 inch suspension a 3 inch body and I bought
this for my truck cause I didn’t want it to ride like crap but wanted it to
be level in the front , but the torsion bars are cranked some but not all
the way and when I go to put this under my truck it wont let me drop my
lower A arm all the way down to put it under the top A arm and I loosened
the torsion bars when I tried to install this and i want to know what I
need to do to install this

redwolf4k says:

So, AlexMan, how did this work out for you in the long run? I have an 89,
and was thinking about doing this mod for a few inches of lift, but I am
curious how your CVs are, if you are chewing through lower ball joints
fast, or any little thing you may want to comment on. My front end has been
extremely reliable, and I would hate to compromise that. Also, did you have
to adjust the torsion bar load with the spacers, or do the spacers
themselves allow the suspension to stretch at stock preload?

skateryork1 says:

thank you! very informative nice knowing what im getting into before i do
it.

TheAlexManVideos says:

I think it will work, but do some more research to be sure.

extremepartyboy says:

so i put this kit on my truck now my front wheels are caving in leaving the
mojority of the trucks weight on my outter tread, are you sure its just
needing an alignment or what else am i needing to do? plz reply soon! thanks

necrorazer says:

tell me your facebook, skype or something please 🙂

skateryork1 says:

did you do a dif. drop?

ignacio alvarado says:

How much was the ball joint spacer kit? and where did you get it from?
Thanks

justuspenrod says:

It is 4×4

TheAlexManVideos says:

I’m not totally sure, I think the 4×4 T100 suspension is the same as the
4×4 Pickup/4Runner so it should work. If your T100 is 2 wheel drive I don’t
know if this will work.

TheAlexManVideos says:

Make sure you get longer shocks to accommodate the longer space between
shock mounting points. I am incorrect in this video, the Rancho shocks are
too short. I have heard many good things about Old Man Emu shocks. I have a
pair on order and will hopefully have them installed soon.

TheAlexManVideos says:

No. I left them the way the factory set them.

TheAlexManVideos says:

It was about $70 shipped. I searched for Toyota Pickup Ball Joint Spacer on
eBay.

necrorazer says:

Have you adjusted the torsion bar? I bought and installed this kit, but it
has generated a wheel drop, and looks like this: _/. I only put the spacer
with sway bar drop brackets, I dont adjusted the torsion bar. I made the
alignment after installed, but the wheel drop can don’t fix in the
aligment. My kit come with Differential Drop pieces, Must I install this
adjust with torsion bar to solve my problem? thank you!

TheAlexManVideos says:

It doesn’t ride any different, but the ground clearance is much improved.
The lower control arms no longer parallel with the ground. They now have an
angle and give better clearance under the front end. ht remove space

GearGrinder33 says:

Did you add a leaf spring in the rear? Does this spacer give a noticeable
lift to the truck? Was it worth it? Where did you get the better hardware
you mentioned?

necrorazer says:

the positive camber came instantly when I put the spacer. The alignment was
made by a professional in a garage with a computer. He try to fix the
positive camber a little bit, but anyway, this still like this: __/. this
will produce a worn on the outside of the tire…. I put this in a toyota
hilux 2001 japanese, with ifs too… i dont know waht to do. help please 🙂

TheAlexManVideos says:

Well, the mechanic did it wrong. Without proper adjustment the wheels will
have positive camber after the spacer install. The alignment is necessary
to set the camber back to spec.

TheAlexManVideos says:

I am pretty happy with the set up. My CV’s have had no issues. I do plan on
getting a diff drop kit in the near future from 4Crawler just to be safe. I
have had issues with lower BJ’s developing play, but I have never heard of
anyone else with the same issue so I don’t totally believe it’s the fault
of the lift. I didn’t adjust the torsion bars.

ThePerez6 says:

I installed similar balljoint spacers on my 87 toyota 2wd pickup. My
brother made them at his machine shop so I got them for free.I kept my
original height skocks all I did was added spacers underneath the lower
washer that holds the bushing (upper shock mount) and it has held really
well, I take my truck out in the desert and beat on it pretty good and has
held. The upper shock bount has enough threads to accomodate spacers.Just my
2 cents.
