Replace all four ignition coils with a Denso brand, will idle extremely well if everything else is operating normal. Big improvement.

hi Peter i always watch your vids for help thanks so much, i have a question its really bugging me, my car was spluttering at junctions and sometimes i would accelerate hard and it would take along time to get going, kangerooing in traffic, i changed my inlet manifold due to a noisey vibration and it fixed that but i never changed gasket which i have now ordered to fix the leak i can hear in manifold, i did buy a new MAF as the other one seemed like it wasnt working, on putting the new one on my idle is up and down, the cars revving over a 1000 then dropping low then back up to 800/900 its really bad to drive so i took the MAF off, once i fit new gasket and MAF should my car be okay? or will i have to get car plugged in and altered to suit maybe delete any error codes that may be there, im going to clean throttle body also, please help thanks Louis

OK so Peter, I'm just having a hard time understanding your accent at the beginning. Did you say a NORMAL idle speed when starting the engine cold is around 1100 rpm, and a warm idle speed is around 800rpm? I think my idle speed is around those turns when my engine is cold/warm. I notice my car shakes when I'm stopped at a red light. Do you think this is due to the worn out motor mounts OR idle speed issues?

I cleaned the throttlebody because it was full of dirt.. Managed to take off the sensor put it back / cleaned the idle sensor.

Any suggestion? Is it possiible to caliibrate it yourself?

Hi Mr Finn! I have a one year old corolla 1.6 L 1Zr-fe engine. Rarely when I start the car from a cold start, there is a loud rattle which lasts a few seconds. I have googled this and some people say it is a problem with with the intake VVT-i gear which must be change. Is this true? Grateful to have your expert views on this.

Hello Peter! I`m from argentina, I have a corolla xei vvt-i 1.8 engine 1zz 2005, i got a trouble and i will comment to you, maybe you can help me, when i accelerate i feel a cut in the acceleration like if one cylinder fails and i see a oil consumtion and smell of bruning oil.
before an inspection i have find the distribution lock broken an i was think "the cause of il consumtion" but not.. i changed it and the oil consumtion remains.
I was make a cylinder compression test and its ok, a throttle body clean, tps sensor test ok, MAF test ok,
I was not do a obd2 scann yet
thats probably can be a coil? How can i test them?
I follow you and yours vids are a good help !
Thanks!!! Juan
