Hi. This oil consumption is issue in some Corolla motors and normally the
reason is stuck piston rings in motor. You could fix that issue by
replacing new piston rings, but it costs maybe 500$-1000$. Also you could
use some specials oils, but I don’t know how they really helps.
I have a 1998 corolla and a 2000 corolla both of them were loosing oil and
no idea why. Need to add half quart every two weeks or every 500 miles. Any
idea on why Corollas from 1998 – 2002 are known in loosing oil. Both start
loosing oil after they reach 100k miles. Both cars have never fail the smog
test. The 2000 corolla has failed a catalytic converter after 100k miles. I
used 10w30 on both cars and thinking of trying 20w50 on the 1998 corolla
and mix some oil leak stopper.
