If replacing the ICV doesn’t fix the high throttle, what would you suggest?
I’m having this problem with my 2zz-ge.

benjamin mcclelland says:

Snap on midget pliers 5ACP are great for those phillips head screws if they
strip. I keep these pliers on my roll cart as every day use.

briansmobile1 says:

no. I’ve used/ installed many, many of them with great results. I try to
buy them with low miles.

briansmobile1 says:

Error codes are triggered when the #’s don’t meet certain criteria in the
vehicles computer. It’s all a bunch of “if this is X then these other #’s
have to be in range Y” or the CEL will come on with code PXXXX. In this
case the idle was all over the place and erratic. It was especially high on
start up because the computer is running in a state that is conservative
when it’s cold and in “open loop” PLUS vacuum leak- basically the O2 sensor
and others aren’t warmed up and contributing fully.

1991JeepMan says:

I think this exactly the problem my wife’s prizm has. When she starts it it
revs immediately kind of high and seems to stay there, also after putting
it back in park. Gonna get the CEL checked this weekend to confirm. Thanks
for the vid!!

Hey Brian. Fine lapping compound on the phillips bit will give it excellent
bite as well.

joel graves says:

revitup1965 says:

Is this error code symptom a constant high idle, only when cold is it too
high and how high in RPM”s?

jonw white says:

brian when are you going to make a vid on a tour of your workshop and your
tools and all your vehicles cheers

PatriksKanal says:

Your vids have been pretty awesome lately!

Nivicoman says:

Didn’t know modern port fuel injected vehicles still needed heat on the
throttle body. I was used to old Chevys having a branch of the exhaust
crossover in the intake manifold go through the throttle body of a 2GC or
4GC carb prior to the early 70’s. After that it was heated intake air via
passing it over the exhaust manifold and the exhaust crossover in the
intake manifold not being branched to the throttle body.

thx brian
