A Toyota master diagnostic technician shows you how to change Toyota hybrid transmission fluid and Hybrid differential fluid
In this video I will show you how to replace your Toyota and Lexus hybrid transmission fluid. Also I will show you how to replace the hybrid differential fluid.
It is recommended to replace the transmission fluid on Toyota and Lexus hybrids every 60-90k miles ( 100-145k kms) for optimum protection and longevity of the hybrid transmission.
The recommended fluid for this replacement is Toyota ATF WS. I don’t recommend you use any aftermarket fluids for Toyota hybrid transmissions.
Tools needed :
jack and 4 jack stands.
10mm hex (24mm socket for 1st and 2nd gen Prius)
drain pan
5 quarts for transmission and around 4 quarts for differential of Toyota ATF WS fluid.
Fluid transfer pump.

When refilling, I’ve had good luck using a yard sprayer. I remove the spray tip from the wand and can easily control the flow of fluid into the transmission. Works quite well.
I just did this on my non hybrid rx350 it had ran 150k miles without a fluid change, fluid was very dark but still had some pink in it so I changed it, and still shifts very nice. 150k would be my max amount of mileage if it was never changed
ALSO….I AM GOING TO CHANGE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID ON MY 22 VENZA….THERE IS NO FILL PLUG ON THE LEFT ON THE TRANSMISSION HOWEVER THERE IS A PLUG ON THE RIGHT SIDE THAT LOOKS LIKE IT COULD BE A FILL HOLE…..CAN THAT BE IT ????

Pro tip: if these drain plugs are really tight, try giving them a slight tap with a hammer, and they should spin right off. Don't nail it, small tap, maybe a couple at most. Use a little ball pien.
I had 2017 camry which is closed system for trans fluid and it had overflow plug. Are you saying Prius' don't have the overflow plug and you have to put exact amount of fluid?

Note Penrite ATF LV specifies that it meets Toyota WS standard – Why is it NOT capatible ? Toyota dont make oil or Transmission fluids ? Toyota brand WS ATF is more than twice the price !! WT !!

So temperature doesn’t play a role in this? I thought the fluid had to be at running temperature? Like 100°? Am I supposed to warm the car up first?
