so what was the problem with the alternator ? how can it draw amps ? should it be replaced or is it the wiring ?

That's not going to work on most cars nowadays especially Highline Vehicles. every time you put your lead on that battery terminal it's going to wake the modules up in the car
And of course Doors shut and lights off and keep keys away to keep all circuits aren't working.
So what you disconnected it every time you parked it? What was the fix
What if your multimeter doesn't have an Amp setting?
